Just as Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) was getting ready to accept that her husband was, in fact, dead, despite a gut feeling telling her otherwise, comes word that “The Young and the Restless” has recast the role of Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV with daytime newcomer Conner Floyd. The character is the son of Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) and the paternal grandson of Jill Abbott (Jess Walton).
Last month, Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) informed Abby that Chance was reported to have been killed in a bomb explosion while he was on an undercover assignment. Refusing to accept the news for some time, reality only sunk in when Christine came back with evidence of Chance’s wedding ring being found on the scene, thereby proving Chance’s death in the eyes of the law.
In this week’s episodes, Abby’s family is fearing for her health and safety as she continues mourning her husband. In fact, some are even concerned about her ability to take care of Dominic, the child Abby had Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) birth through surrogacy.
Appearing in the television movies “Malicious Motives,” “A Kiss on Candy Land” and the upcoming “Help Wanted,” Floyd takes over the role most recently portrayed by Donny Boaz. The actor exited the role in February of this year. During Chance and Abby’s wedding celebration in November 2020, the role was played by Justin Gaston, the real-life husband of Ordway.
Look for Chance to reveal himself with Floyd in the role sometime later this month. In the meantime, watch a clip below of a determined Abby wanting to search for her husband.
