When Kimberlin Brown last appeared at the Television City studios where “The Bold and the Beautiful” is filmed the actress set off a firestorm of speculation that she would soon be reprising her iconic role as Sheila Carter on the daytime drama series. Sadly, it turned out she was just there for publicity reasons. This time, however, she’s officially back as Sheila and it turns out one of daytime’s biggest villains is finally tied to the Forresters in a way she never would have imagined.

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, it is revealed that Sheila is in fact the biological mother of Dr. John Finnegan (Tanner Novlan). “When I found out that Finn was Sheila’s son, I was excited — I mean, terribly excited,” Brown told the publication. “Especially because all the years that Sheila has been on the show, and I know she has other children, I’m finally going to get to act with one of them for more than just a little while…. Think about this, Sheila finally has a connection to the Forresters — through Steffy, whether she likes it or not.”

On today’s episode, a mysterious individual received a wedding invitation to Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn’s wedding which will take place on the Thursday, August 5 and Friday, August 6 episodes of the soap. Turns out, that person is Sheila herself!

Previewing what’s to come, Brown says of Sheila, “I really thought she had changed the last time she was there. She was really trying to be a better person. There’s no doubt about that, and I don’t think that that has changed. But, even for people who have become better, in the face of society, when you have certain elements in life that refuse to acknowledge that betterment, you just hope you don’t slip back into some of your old ways…. I guess it’s the way I have always signed my photographs: ‘Get ready, because the best is yet to come!’”

Word of Brown’s possible return first came to light when Novlan re-shared an Instagram story from the “Entertainment Tonight” handle which showed correspondent Matt Cohen (ex-Griffin Munro, “General Hospital”) taking a photograph with Brown, Novlan and Wood (Steffy Forrester) from the newsmagazine’s visit to the set during the filming of the wedding episodes.
