For the first time since 2017, “Days of our Lives” star Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) and “General Hospital” newcomer Cameron Mathison (character TBA) will re-team as their popular characters from the “Murder, She Baked” TV movie series with an all-new installment of “Hannah Swensen Mysteries” for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. Production began last week in Vancouver, Canada with Barbara Niven (“Chesapeake Shores,” “One Life to Live”) also returning.
First appearing together in “Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery” in 2015, Sweeney and Mathison co-starred in all five installments of the “Murder, She Baked” series which ran through 2017 with the last being “Murder, She Baked: Just Desserts.”
In the newest installment airing this summer, Hannah (Sweeney) and Mike Kingston (Mathison) are now engaged and managing busy careers. When a murder occurs at Hannah’s gym, however, their wedding plans get complicated as Hannah’s need for sleuthing begins to impact Mike’s investigation.
“I’m so excited to revisit Hannah Swensen and to again work with Cameron and Barbara on these fun stories that combine romance with intrigue. The fans have been so vocal in their love of these characters and it’s exciting to be bringing them back to life and to return to Hannah’s bakery where it all began,” said Sweeney, who also serves as an executive producer.
This Hannah Swenson Mysteries is produced by Sweeney, Craig Baumgarten and Lighthouse Pictures. The series is based on the Hannah Swensen mysteries series of books by Joanne Fluke.
