After 13 years of portraying Cane Ashby on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless,” actor Daniel Goddard announced recently that he has been let go.
In a post on his social platforms, Goddard says, “It is with a heavy heart that I share the news that I will no longer be part of the cast of the ‘The Young and the Restless.'” He adds, “I am as shocked and gutted as you are… I almost didn’t post but I felt that the most loyal & loving fans an actor could wish for deserved to know and watch the last story arc knowing the rich meaning behind it. I am forever grateful for the 13 years I have been a part of the Y&R family… but sadly it seems that without Neil and Lily there just is no Cane.”
The actor concluded his post with a broken heart emoji.
No word yet on when fans can expect to last see the actor on the show or whether the show plans to recast the character.
Earlier this month, Goddard posted a short clip of himself in the “Y&R” studio parking lot where he noted that his on-again/off-again screen partner Christel Khalil was back filming scenes and her parking space was right next to his. Could this mean that Lily will spearhead Cane’e exit? Stay tuned as this story continues to develop.
