Now that Adam Newman set to return to Genoa City in the weeks ahead it was inevitable that his wife, Chelsea Newman, would be returning as well. And that is in fact happening!

According to Entertainment Weekly, Melissa Claire Egan is set to begin filming at “The Young and the Restless” next month as she reprises her Emmy-nominated role sometime this summer.

“Told ya it was just ‘goodbye for now,'” wrote Egan on Twitter following the news reveal. “This is gonna be good.”

In January 2018, Egan announced she would be leaving the soap after six years. “I love this show (and this genre) so very much, and am so grateful to this amazing crew and cast,” said Egan at the time. “This isn’t goodbye. Truly. Just goodbye for now.”

Last seen in February 2018, Chelsea suddenly left town with her son Connor in tow in order to avoid time in jail. Seen making a mysterious phone call in her last moments in Genoa City, many have long speculated that the person on the other line was that of her husband, Adam Newman. Now that “Y&R” has cast newcomer Mark Grossman to take on the role, it’s only a matter of time before we find out what the two have been up to since they’ve been off the grid.

In addition to her starring role as Annie Lavery on “All My Children” (2006-2011), Egan has appeared in episodes of such shows as “Misguided,” “Bones” and “Men at Work.” She can next be seen in the Hallmark Channel movie, “Holiday for Heroes” alongside “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Necessary Roughness” actor Marc Blucas. The TV movie is set to release later this year as part of the network’s holiday-themed programming block.
