Nominations for “The 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” were announced yesterday and the digital daytime dramas have seen rapid growth in their representation by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in recent years. In addition to the Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actress in a Digital Daytime Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Digital Daytime Drama Series categories, NATAS has expanded the field with additional category representation such as Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Digital Daytime Drama Series and Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Digital Daytime Drama Series, Outstanding Guest Performer in a Digital Daytime Drama Series, Outstanding Writing for a Digital Drama Series and Outstanding Directing for a Digital Drama Series.

This year, digital drama “Giants” leads the pack with 11 nominations, followed by “After Forever” with eight nominations and “The Bay The Series” with seven nominations.

In addition to receiving nominations in the digital categories, “Giants” is competing with “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of our Lives” and “The Young and the Restless,” among others, in the category of Outstanding Original Song. The series has two nominations in the category: “Beat of Your Heart” and “More Love.”

“The 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” are scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 5from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, CA. On Friday, May 3, the Creative Arts Daytime Emmys, honoring outstanding achievement in the technical aspects for daytime television programs broadcast from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the 2018 calendar year, will also take place from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.

“The 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” is a presentation of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Both of this year’s shows will be led by Executive Producer, David Michaels, SVP, Daytime (NATAS) and Executive Producer, David Parks, Ignition Entertainment.
