‘GH: Night Shift’s’ Sri Rao to Write/EP New ABC Comedy

Former “” head writer has signed on to write the pilot of an untitled Bollywood comedy for ABC inspired by the real-life story of Indian actress . Rao will also executive produce alongside Dixit, her husband , and “Quantico” star .

The single-camera comedy series follows a former Bollywood star who moves to the American suburbs with her bi-cultural family and tries to bring more color to an otherwise dull town.

The Mark Gordon Company (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Quantico,” “Ray Donovan”) will co-produce the potential series with ABC Studios.

Rao served as head writer of “: Night Shift” during the second season of the primetime spin-off of ABC’s “.”
