Earlier today a tweet went out over claims that the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and Pop, which will broadcast the next month, were looking to have soap fans on hand to sit in bleachers that would be made available to the public on the red carpet. There were alleged claims, however, that the two parties was only seeking to include fans under the age of 45 to sit in said bleacher seats. NATAS and Pop have now issued statements that put clarification on the situation.

“Earlier today, there was an unfortunate misunderstanding regarding an invitation for fans to be part of the Daytime Emmy® Awards audience,” said NATAS. “The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) would like to clarify that there are NO age restrictions for fans to attend the 42nd Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards. Currently, the responsibility of filling these limited number of seats has been entrusted to the very capable hands of the official fan clubs of the four Daytime Dramas to select those lucky few who will join us on April 26th.”

Prior to NATAS’s statement, Pop said, “Pop is shocked to hear of this. We celebrate fandom and welcome fans of all ages. We are taking action to fix this now.”
