Soap Opera Network: So who’s the designer of this gorgeous dress? It’s such a pretty color!
Grimes: Thank you! It’s Rhea Costa. I loved it. It made me feel like a mermaid. And I love this mesh and lace, and I loved that it was nude, it looked like it was hugging perfectly.
Is it hard to walk with that train?
Yes, people have been stepping on my train, and I don’t like it!
I guess it’s true what they say: Beauty is pain.
Yes, it is. But you know what, I can just inch my way down the carpet, and if a couple of people step on it, no problem!
What did you do leading up to “inching” down the red carpet?
I actually got a hotel for last night and tonight, so I woke up really relaxed, and I had hair and makeup come to me. I snacked on some berries.
Just berries, all day?!
Well yeah! This dress is really tight!
Who are you rooting for tonight? Anyone in particular you think should take home the Emmy?
I really love the “Y&R” writing team, and I hope they take it home. It’s the award I’m presenting, and I feel like it would be full circle, because they brought me on this year, and I loved their ingenuity in that storyline, so I’d love to see them get some nods for the stuff they’ve done this year.
And what a twist, having you become Mariah so you don’t have to continue as Ghost Cassie!
I know! I’m still not used to being called Mariah. I’m like, “Wait, I’m Cassie.”
Too funny. What do you think about Mariah being a little bit of a troublemaker?
I’d love for them to keep her sassy. I’d like her to branch out and do some other stuff, but I like that she has that bad girl edge and she doesn’t always make the best decisions. It’s a very human quality.
Yes, and some would say one of those horrible decisions is working closely with Victor Newman!

You and Eric Braeden have worked together for so many years.
Yeah, he played my grandfather on the show before, so we worked together often. Eric and I have a lot of fun together, and we usually tape our scenes really quickly, because we both are really playful and willing to be exciting on the first take, so we just bang it out. It’s fun.
