Eileen Davidson Returning To ‘Y&R’ As Contract Player
After appearing on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” for the past couple of years in a somewhat recurring capacity, actress Eileen Davidson has signed a contract with the Sony Pictures Television produced soap, which guarantees fans will be seeing a lot more of Ashley Abbott on a more consistent basis.
“They has [sic] been reaching out for quite a while and wondering what I wanted, so the deal we made suits my life very well,” Davidson told Soap Opera Digest of her signing on. “I’m really happy. I’ve put in a lot of years in this medium, which I don’t take for granted, so I’m very grateful.”
Per the publication, Davidson will begin appearing as a contract player on “Y&R” starting in early September, while simultaneously appearing on the Sony Pictures Television produced “Days of our Lives” as Kristen DiMera, the role in which she is currently Daytime Emmy Award nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
Davidson got her start in daytime playing Ashley Abbott in 1982. She portrayed the character until 1988. She went on to appear on NBC’s “Santa Barbara” from 1991 to 1993. She subsequently joined the “DAYS” cast in 1993 and remained with the soap until 1998. She would later return to “Y&R” in 1999 and portray Ashley Abbott on the soap along with its sister series, “The Bold and the Beautiful,” over the 15 years that followed. Davidson returned to “DAYS” for a year-long stint from 2012-2013.
