WHAT DO YOU THINK? Comment Below...
  • Kevin

All up from last year – that’s good!

And about GH: They’re having a very good season average (also women 18-49).

Why always look for bad news when there’s so much good news to talk about?

    • Cindylou

People keep saying that the ratings are up from last year. But what you don’t realize is how GOOD the ratings CAN be! Look how close GH was to Number 1 during the 50th anniversary when the writing FOCUSED on the vets. The characters we LOVE and want to see. NOW the focus is on characters RON cares about. WE don’t care about Kiki, Silas and we damn sure don’t care about Franco! BUT THESE THREE characters are the SOLE focus of GH head writer. And each week the ratings keep dropping. And theyre gonna keep dropping if you ask me!

      • Terri Fiamma

What about wheelchair lady hangs out at the hospital and goes unnoticed.

  • Philip

Simply choosing to ignore the bad news doesn’t make it go away. A deer can be in the line of fire and stick his head in the sand not to see the shot coming. But the shot still comes and he ends up as the hunter’s next meal.

All you doing is living in a fantasy world. But someday you still have to deal with reality.

I know that is a new low for GH in the 18-49 demo as far as viewers. But what about that 1.6 for daily? Has GH ever gotten one of those before?

    • Sandy

Yes they were getting 1.5s and 1.6s during Guza’s last year on the show. They are back to where RC started from.He has made all the same mistakes as his predecessor, focusing the show on a few chosen pets. I think cancellation is the next step.

      • Philip

I guess I remember it then but had forgotten. It was just shocking to see the show there. I agree that cancellation is the next step. I highly doubt ABC will care enough to replace them and just let them continue to run the show in the ground. I haven’t watched in weeks now. Have no desire to either. And looking at some of the upcoming stories esp. Franco thinking he is Jason….nothing even makes me want to tune in. I was upset when they talked about GH cancellation before, but RC has just made me care so little about the show I once loved. I will miss what GH was but definitely not what it became.

    • Alexandra

Gosh!! The anti-soaps lobby is so ridiculously predictable.

They’re looking desperately for ANY opportunity to push their “cancel soaps” agenda.

If ABC wants to have the same terrible ratings they’re having with those cheap talk and cooking shows they put on after killing OLTL and AMC, they’re gonna follow this propaganda. If not, NOT!!

      • Philip

LukeNoahFan….you can post under a thousand names and say the same exact thing but despite all you try to say …. you still can’t hide the fact that GH just sucks right now. Bad numbers and good numbers…. propaganda…agenda….whatever you want to call it. You can’t hide bad writing and bad quality. That’s the problem. It’s not summer. No agendas or anything. The show stinks. And too many people are saying it.

        • Alexandra

Are you suffering from paranoia or what’s your whole obsession with that LukeNoah guy all about?

If anyone’s having a problem with numbers, it’s you!

GH has had a very good season so far and there were some pretty good numbers over the last couple of weeks, too.

Obviously, you are desperately longing for another soap to get cancelled. No matter if the numbers are backing it up or not.

      • GL&AMC fan

All I see is a lot of worried and angry fans. No one wants their fav show cancelled. I’ve been there, it’s not fun. I watched GL and AMC become unrecognizable. Low production values just to save a buck. HW’s taking over and destroying everything you once loved. EP’s pushing out “expensive” actors only to fill up the show with hair models. Trying to shut down these valid complaints won’t save the show from the path it’s on.

Good luck GH fans. I hope ABC is listening.

  • Barbara

I think B&B is the worst soap opera around. I don’t know how their rating gets to be as high as that. My friends and I all stopped watching B&B last year. The B&B should be in last place. Days of Our Lives and GH are far better then that awful B&B. B&B stinks.

    • PatF

I think there are a LOT of people who believe that GH is in the worst shape right now. Not BB. Days is going through a good period right now, and YR’s storylines are strong as well.

    • Dawn

B&B is very popular in other countries, i think that’s the difference.

    • Harlee

BB has been red hot of late and the most consistent soap on TV for many years now because of the Bells & YR’s original writing & producing team at BB right now. Brad, Kay, Jack, & rest of writers have been great in telling stories, regardless BB is the only soap to grow the last 3*4 years in year-end growth…it’s called consistency in story telling.

  • kellie fogg

not surprised by gh ratings. ever since the nurses ball back in Febf. the show has been awful. I gave up watching back in april which makes me sad i have watched for 32+ years. There is to much focus on certain characters they are on 4/5 todays a week. the vets are on maybe 1 day a week if that. This Gh is not what people want which is why the ratings are not good. What happen to all the love and adventure and super couples

    • Terri Fiamma

      Go get’em.

  • Bored GH Fan

Everyone keeps going back to the anniversary and the vets with GH but neither one of them are the answers or the problem. The problem and the answer goes back to Cartini. They are not a good fit for GH. Frank’s dime-store producing tactics have brought the level of production down and Ron’s poor writing has just caused even more problems. Stories don’t end. They just linger along. He has been there over a year and there is still no resolution to many of the things he started. New characters have taken over the focus of the show. His pets get the majority of the attention. And he masks things by returns and undoing unpopular things of the past like Laura’s return and undoing AJ’s death. But all they are there for is to mask the fact that he is only interested in writing for his pets and doesn’t know what he is doing. People have been so preoccupied by the returns of Laura, Lucy, AJ, etc. that they thought this man knew what he is doing. But ask yourself this. What has been the purpose of Robin being kept alive? Or Duke not being dead? Or Laura’s return? Or even AJ’s return? Has any of them had any major impact on the show? These are big returns that people have been clamoring for but it’s the return of Franco that gets the attention. His return and his redemption at the expense of everyone else on the show. GH won’t prosper til these two men are gone. Michael Easton made it clear in his interview this week with Michael Fairman. They are throwing everything they have in the returns of these 3 characters and they are just waiting for fans to come around to their way of their thinking. Ron C. has made it clear on his Twitter account that only he knows what is best for GH. The rest of us aren’t true fans unless we jump on his bandwagon and just accept whatever he is doing. And he has his press followers, Jamey Giddens at DC, Michael Fairman, and Nellie Bronco, who only want to get in his pants, heralding everything he does and writes as pure gold. He honestly believes he is a writing God. Just follow him on Twitter for awhile and you will find out how highly he thinks of himself.

  • Makes No Sense

Here is what makes no sense they are down in 18-49 but up in 18-34 so somehow they are losing all that audience in 35-49? The show is obviously having issues although panicing about July 4th week probably not the best comparison. Lets hope ABC wakes up and makes the writers/producers get the act together.

As someone else said the veterans are not the answers so many other things that need to be fixed. The problem is those fixes don’t happen overnight.

  • Vacation Week

As for those individual day ratings being so low it was July 4th week so I will hold judgement until next week on what shape GH is in this is just not a ratings week with a holiday flat in the middle and being the biggest vacation week of the year that I can give any credence one way or another to these numbers

  • Philip

The story with GH doesn’t just go with one week. Back during Christmas week GH got over 3 million viewers. Many were saying then that GH was going to hit that on a consistent basis and it looked like it would be so. GH was consistently hitting between 2.5 and 3 million on a daily basis through early 2013. Now they have weeks where they only have days that get slightly over 2.5 million and very few days where they are over 2.7 million. Days of Our Lives has beat them in Total Viewers for 4 weeks now. Up until a few months ago the fight between the two shows for last place was definitely swinging in GH’s favor but now Days has new life and the favor belongs to them.

This was posted by TeamEric on the SON ratings thread a few weeks ago:

    GH 2013 monthly averages:

    Jan 2013 2,834,200 653,600
    Feb 2013 2,777,500 631,250
    Mar 2013 2,612,750 611,500
    Apr 2013 2,668,200 637,800 – 50th anniv/Nurses Ball
    May 2013 2,550,750 617,750
    Jun 2013 2,500,000 556,000**

    **Thru 6/14/13

GH has been dropping viewers since the first of the year. The first number is their total viewers and the 2nd is their key demo 18-49.

  • Reiz

The best soap is The Bold and The Beautiful….the others are just about murders, police, and stupid things which go always to the extreme…BB is my favorite soap. You really enjoy itwhen seeing it.

  • janewagon

GH has just become so predictable lately. Danny gets leukemia so we all know that this is a storyline plot to make Franco his bone marrow donor which in turn, supposedly makes him a little more human. Forget about all of the horrible things he’s done to so many people in Port Charles. Ava and Franco have all but taken over the “Q” mansion. Where is Monica, the actual home owner, making a fuss about her house being hijacked? Michael and Kiki are all hot for each other but they’re cousins so now we discover that Silas and Ava have a past and since Ava seems to be going out of her way to keep Silas from finding out that she has a daughter, supposedly with Franco. This only means that Silas is actually Kiki’s father and when that truth comes out, Mikey and Kiki can proceed to stab Morgan in the back and seal the deal. And then there’s Britt and Maxie both being pregnant at the same time. Maxie is pretending to still be carrying Dante and Lulu’s baby when we all know that it’s actually Britt who’s carrying the future Falconeri bundle of joy while passing it off as Patrick’s. Despite Maxi’s many attempts to come clean with Dante and Lulu about her child with Spinelli, it looks like the truth will come out after Maxie delivers her little girl and after holding the child in her arms, realizes she can’t give her up. She finally comes clean with them but they won’t believe her and demand a paternity test, which Maxie will readily agree to because she’s confident that the tests will prove that the baby is indeed hers. The problem, Britt will also deliver a baby girl the same day and as we know, soap hospitals seem to have a problem with protecting lab results and babies from being switched, and Maxie will unknowingly end up with the baby Britt delivers so imagine Maxies surprise when the paternity test confirms that the baby she “delivered’ is actually a Falconeri. Britt won’t care as long as she has someone’s baby to pass off as Patrick’s even if she figures out it belongs to a devastated Maxie. Like I said, much too predictable but still fun to watch. I dare the writer’s to tell us a story that will actually shock and surprise us!!!

  • StatingTheObvious

Um, does anybody remember that it’s summer? At this time of year, many people go away on vacation. This is not news to anyone. It happens to every show, every year, for the same reason. No need to get over-excited by slight drops during a time when it’s expected to drop.

    • Alexandra

Yeah, and all soaps are still up considerably from last year when you take into account the last couple of weeks where we have seen some of the best numbers in several years!

The aggressive anti-soaps lobby doesn’t lose a single opportunity to push their desperate agenda to get all soaps cancelled and more cheap talk, cooking and game shows on.

The fact of the matter is that those cheapest possible programs they want to shove down the viewers’ throats can only dream of the ratings ALL the remaining soaps are seeing this season.

Since when is the performance of a show evaluated on the basis of a single week that doesn’t represent the season average at all??

The answer is pure and simple: It’s mere propaganda to get more soaps cancelled. These people know exactly what’s going to happen if the upward trend for soaps continues and when computers, mobile devices and online viewership are finally getting counted appropriately:

The trend will be soaps all over again, and that’s why they are pushing their aggressive agenda to get rid of all of them before that trend will have a chance to fully develop!

The cheapest shows possible anti-soaps lobby has become very strong in America, unfortunately.

      • Terri Fiamma

        dream on

    • Philip

OH yeah these numbers have absolutely nothing to do with how bad GH is right now do they? GH has been dropping viewers long before summer got here. What was the excuse in April after the 50th when viewers started tuning out. Maybe they were starting to pack for the summer and didn’t have time to watch.

You can make up a thousand excuses for why people don’t watch. But that is just it — they are excuses.

      • faith

        You are so predictable!

You better worry about your cheap talk and cooking shows that are getting MUCH worse ratings.

All the soaps (including GH!) are having their best season average since 2008-09.

      • Terri Fiamma

        Perfectly said.

    • Terri Fiamma

If that makes you feel better, keep thinking that that is the problem.

  • Harlee

YR needs to be put on anti-depressants badly, it’s a hot mess right now…one day its a great soap opera & the next day it’s so far off the mark & boring, it makes a viewer head spin. Josh has complete screwed up the paternity story of Summer…gawd now Sharon changed the DNA results…WTH! Is Sharon off her meds? This is worse or almost equal to what MAB had done to Sharon…geez this will damage even more lives because it’s not true complete ruin Sharon for good, how would you bring a character back from playing with so many lives and for what “love” way to much and over drama. Josh’s stories are beginning to seem very Cartini-like stories, just do anything….regardless…Josh has played loose and with this “could be” AMAZING story but royally laid an egg. It was rotten & stinks. It will now be convolted, hard to follow with absolutely no depth, he built a great shell of story but no filling which is happening a lot on YR…I’ve been patient and am not saying it’s been a complete failure but enough is enough…Sony, Cbs needs to lop off some heads again because this team just don’t get what YR soul is all about except with Dylan. Way to much Chloe, tiring of Chelsea, Dylan, Adam, lame Kevin, Billy Miller has been extremely bad & irratating in Billy’s gambling story, this is another stinker by Josh. Now, TylerAbby hooking up? which I was liking nuAbbyAlex dynamic which Josh evidently don’t like, wanting them to part. I honestly don’t think I can last until Katherine’s death it will be horrible follow up to this wonderful lady we fans know as Katherine Chancellor….I feel it in the pit of my stomach…it will be ugly guys and this team has no use for Jill…its a fact. The ratings have stagnated and flatten out better in numbers yes slightly, better in changing YR to YR a complete failure. I’ve been seeing in other posts about this team of Jill & Josh wanting to resurface the character of Daisy….if so I know I’m through. If I leave this time I leave for good because YR is NOTHING as a Bill Bell soap what soever.
The best soap right is a tie between BB & DOOL hands down especially BB, Heather Tom is kicking booty!

    • PatF

Well, where in the hell have you been? :-)

      • Harlee

Oh I’ve been around but busy, it never ends and just getting burnt after 40+ years of being a soap viewer extremely in “WTF” is up with soaps now…I haven’t been watching any soap except 2 maybe 3 times a week…I don’t understand with SonyCBS with YR…thank sweet Jesus we still have a Bell in BB, you realize P that BB has the original YR team Kay, Jack, Rex in writing, & Ed in producing…one BB is the most consistent of any soap. It doesn’t have the same disjointed story telling as YR.

  • Terri Fiamma

Where is the surprise with GH? The acting stinks, the writing stinks, the scenes are predictable. I have watched from the beginning and would have preferred that it go off on top than the embarrassment that it has become.
