Casting for 'Life': Early Summer Odds & Ends

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “One Life to Live” issues another casting call, and other comings and goings for the month of June.

The scene opens with Rhonda urging “Alice Gordon” to take the deal, which could result in her being released on good behavior in eight years. However, if she decides not to take the deal, she would face the maximum punishment for murder that the state allows, even if the person she killed was “Donald Beck.” Alice maintains her innocence, to which Rhonda asserts that she doesn’t believer her. She points out that she had the means, motive, and opportunity to commit the crime, plus she jumped bail. Therefore, Rhonda admits that she is certain of her Alice’s guilt, and gives her 24 hours to make a final decision about whether or not she will expect the plea deal.

As she leaves the room, “Doug” tells Rhonda he seriously doubts that Alice will end up taking the deal. Rhonda responds that she would stupid to reject it, since it is the best she could hope for. She then tells Doug to straighten up his office or else get her one of her own. Doug rebuffs her demand, claiming he likes things just the way they are. As the scene ends, he asks Rhonda how “Lucy” is doing. Rhonda explains that she should be able to go outside tomorrow, and that the antibiotics are working….finally. Then she again demands Doug clean his office. Doug asks if she always acts that way around her boss. She says yes, and that she treats everyone the same way.

It should be noted that this is not a new script, but one that “OLTL” recycled from 2008, in which Rhonda was referred to as “Kate,” Alice as “Sarah,” Doug as “Richard,” and Donald Beck as “Michael Hogan” (the name Lucy remained the same in both scripts however). It should also be pointed out that the show often changes character names in these scripts, and that it may or may be not even be casting the character of “Rhonda,” but may just be using the script to cast (or recast) another character who embodies similar personality traits as the ones described in the audition script.

    In other news…

Lea DeLaria reprised her recurring role as Madame Delphina on Thursday, May 26.

David A. Gregory (Ford) confirms that the “OLTL” studios will be dark all next week, meaning the show will be taking a break from taping. He also notes on his Facebook page that “If you’re a fan of Tess and Ford, get ready for June on ‘OLTL.’ You won’t be disappointed.” (We thought you would appreciate the warning.)

Frank Dolce is back as Jack’s (Andrew Trischitta) sidekick Brad early next month. On Wednesday, June 8, look for the hoodlums to be up to no good again.

On Friday, June 10, the adorable six-year-old Patrick Gibbons, Jr. returns as Todd Manning’s youngest son Sam, when he becomes a little too curious about what someone else is up to. Fans may also be seeing Starr and Cole’s daughter Hope (Tess, Madeline and Molly Sullivan) again soon as well.

Don’t expect Parisian gallery owner M. Claude Calmar (Matthew Conlon) to be leaving Llanview just yet. On Monday, June 6, Tomas (Ted King) places another mysterious call to his old friend regarding the Todd situation.

Mellini Kantayya returns as ER Nurse #1 on Wednesday, June 15.

Matt McGorry noted last week that he had just booked “an Under 5 on ‘One Life To Live’ shooting 2 days next week.”

Jennifer Sorika Horng played Patty, the girl in the hamburger costume that tried to put the moves on Ford when he asked her for some legal advice, on Tuesday, May 17.

Barret Helms, who first airs Monday, June 20 in the contract role of Baz, tweeted on Thursday that the “Wardrobe put me in Valentino and wants to act like I’m not running away in it RIGHT now,” and that he was “Just interviewed with Soap Opera Digest. They’re doing an article on me the week I premiere. June 20- See you in the check-out line!”

Robin Strasser (Dorian) tweeted this week that “INGO [Rademacher, 'General Hospital'] out? MORE brainless/bean counting/counter-intuitive moves. OLTL bids bye 2 huge talents by July 1. Birdie tweets when news not sweet!” She also makes several tweets about taping scenes with Kim Zimmer (Echo) and Tuc Watkins (David), along her taping her finals scenes before her impending back surgery, which she recently revealed would force her to leave “OLTL” before it wraps up production in mid-November. You can read those tweets by clicking here.

“OLTL” Music Director Paul S. Glass reveals that the music used in the May 12 “One Life” “Moments to Remember” promo was John Auer‘s “Moments,” and that it was an ABC original song, however it can be purchased from iTunes.

There will be more dayplayer roles in the coming weeks.

Nafessa Williams (Deanna) tweets that she was “Breaking down this script…studying. Breaking down this script…studying.~> yes..have to stay busy!!!”

Kristen Alderson (Starr) posted this picture of the name plate of the “One Life” co-star sharing the dressing room next to her’s….Roger Howarth.

Even though Matthew’s life is currently in danger, it appears as if Eddie Alderson may not be leaving the show after all.

And, unfortunately, look for June to pick up where May leaves off with regards to Jessica (Bree Williamson) and her alters. Look for more Bess, the gatekeeper alter to make more appearances earlier next month, but not in the way you think.

      Y&R Recap: Thursday, May 26, 2011

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — "The Young and the Restless" Episode Recap – Thursday, May 26, 2011.

      IT HAPPENED TODAY…

Phyllis checked her laptop to see if Daisy might have read her blog but was disappointed when she found no Canadian hits on blog. She continued to write, depicting Daisy as a cold and calculated woman that hurt innocent people, while another family wanted to raise Lucy. As she typed, Daniel pounded on her door and when she let him, he demanded to know what she was up to.

Lauren, Michael, Kevin and Chloe all share a double date at Gloworm together. As they are talking, Kevin commented that while Lauren and Michael were all lovey dovey, Chloe is on her phone again. Chloe, who was checking on something on Restless Style, noticed the blog that Phyllis wrote. While Lauren and Michael were alone talking, Chloe told Kevin about the blog and how she was worried that Lauren would have a fit when she saw it. As they were talking about the blog, Kevin received a text from Angelo telling him he was coming over to the restaurant to see him. He told Jeffrey and stressed to him to come clean with Gloria about doing business with Angelo. When Gloria continued to hound him about what was going on, Jeffrey admitted the truth to her. Meanwhile, away from the group, Lauren expressed her fears regarding Daisy, and how it was her fault that Jana had died. Unable to remain calm, Lauren opted to keep herself busy. Michael and she left the restaurant together.

Devon and Malcolm met up with Neil, who talked about his concerns regarding Lily. They talk about what they could do for her. Meanwhile, Sofia, taking Neil's suggestion to check on his daughter, headed to see Lily with dinner. Lily quickly assumed that she was there to check on her just as everyone else. Lily told her that she could share with them that she was doing just fine. When Sofia left and returned to Crimson Lights, she shared how she was doing. As they all talked on baby names, Neil returned to the table.

At the park, Colin and Caleb met up to discuss how Lily was falling apart as they had hoped. He shared with the twin that Neil was looking into getting her a psychiatric evaluation and that since he was Cane's father, he would have claim over the twin more-so than Neil would. An anxious Caleb again asked that once the job was done if he could get rid of Lily; Colin told the young man he could do whatever he pleased with her.

While Billy and Victoria watched over a sleeping Lucy, Rafe showed up, demanding to know what Billy was up to. When he saw the baby, he asked how he managed to get Lucy back. They shared the news that Daniel was living with them. Not wanting to know anymore details, Rafe told Billy that he came over to talk to him about going against the gag order. Billy said he never went against it and he and Victoria learned that Phyllis purposely used the magazine to attempt to lure Daisy out of hiding. Angry, Billy left to go deal with her. Meanwhile, Daniel told his mother that she had no right using him and Lucy as a way to get Daisy to come out of hiding. Phyllis insisted that she was doing it as a way to buy time and that she wanted him to understand that he needed to be a father to the baby. An angry and rather annoyed Daniel told her about how he helped give birth to the baby and how Daisy left him for dead. When Phyllis learned that Daniel knew longer than he admitted about Lucy, she snapped, saying he purposely deceived her. Daniel told his mother that Daisy wasn't going to come out of hiding, but everyone would hate her guts for what she's done. He walked out on her and shortly after, Billy arrived. When Phyllis opened the door to him, she told him she was in no mood to hear anything he had to say and started mocking his character. Billy told her that she was fired from Restless Style and that he wanted her nowhere near the magazine or his family.

Caleb arrived at the penthouse and Lily was happy to see 'Cane'. She begged him to spend time with her and the twins, opting the two have sex together. They got hot and heavy but he pulled away, telling her that they weren't safe. When he started talking on how the family didn't want them to be together and they had to leave from Genoa City, Lily started to become confused, wondering if he was real or if she is truly imagining things. Meanwhile, Colin, approached Neil at the coffee house and apologized for upsetting him regarding Lily. Neil told Colin that his family were going to work on getting Lily better.

Daniel returned back to the Abbott's and Victoria asked how he was doing. He told her that he was annoyed with his mother's actions. Victoria explained that she could understand that Phyllis was doing it because she cared about her son, but Daniel said that his mother would cut all ties to him if she had to to get claim of of Lucy. Soon after, Billy and Michael, who wasn't too far behind, entered. He wanted to see how they all were doing now that the blog was out there for all, including Daisy to read. Billy told everyone that he fired Phyllis and had the blog removed from the magazine, but despite it's removal, it would still be on the Internet. Victoria asked how Lauren was holding up and Michael admitted he didn't know what his wife is thinking but knew that Phyllis crossed a lot of people. As for Lauren, she headed over to see Phyllis, who immediately lied, telling her friend she wasn't trying to get Daisy to come back. Lauren cut her off and told her that she better get to Daisy before she did, because she wasn't going to be her victim any longer. Unbeknownst to them, however, Daisy, obviously in her hiding place, checked the Internet, where she read Phyllis's blog.

Back at the park, Colin met up with Caleb again, bad-mouthing Neil. While the two men talked, someone was watching from the shadows. Colin told his son that he once the job was done, he would be rewarded. The minute he left, a woman stepped out of the shadows, where Caleb told her how much he hated Colin. Meanwhile, at the penthouse, Neil showed up to check on Lily, who was frazzled. She told her father that he had to leave. When he tried to comfort her, she pushed him away, stressing again that he had to but to take Charlie and Maddie with him; she admitted that she was losing her mind and didn't want the twins there with her. A fearful Neil hugged his daughter close.

        Y&R Recap: Wednesday, May 25, 2011

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — "The Young and the Restless" Episode Recap – Wednesday, May 25, 2011.

        IT HAPPENED TODAY…

Billy and Victoria are happy that Daniel brought Lucy over and is willing to go through with their adoption of her. Daniel was in the process of talking to them about moving above the garage when Phyllis, who was lurking outside, saw the three of them bonding over the baby, stormed in unannounced. She demanded to know why Daniel had brought Lucy over to the Abbott home. Daniel told her that he was going forward in giving custody over to Billy and Victoria.

A concerned Jill spotted Katherine working hard on Tucker's business with McCall Unlimited. Worried about her, she advised Kay to slow down but she told Jill that she wanted to make sure things were in order. Jill realized that Katherine was determined to do what she wanted to do, so she changed conversation to that of Tucker's unknown son, curious to see if Katherine had any idea on what to do about finding him. Katherine admitted that she didn't know where to even begin. After Jill departed, Katherine let Esther know that she was on her way to the hospital. As she was set to head out, Sergeant Goldman arrived with deployment papers for Chance. He informed her that he would be heading back to the Middle East once he re-enlisted. When he departed, Katherine, after looking over the papers, called out to God in frustration on taking another loved one away from her.

Nina lashed out at Heather, thinking that she was the one that caused Chance to decide to go back to the Middle East. Chance explained that Heather had nothing to do with it but a defiant Nina wouldn't let up, spatting that if anything happened to Chance, it would be Heather's fault. Paul walked into Crimson Lights and heard Nina snapping at his daughter and told her not to speak to her like that. Jill, who was also at the coffee house, spotted the four of them and heard them talking about Chance re-enlisting. She became upset, wanting to know why he was leaving them. Knowing that his family was upset, Chance begged them all to focus on the time they had together as a family, rather than spending it upset with one another.

Despite trying to convince Phyllis that he wanted to provide the best home for Lucy, Daniel's words fell short with her. She lashed out that he was making a mistake and that she could call Child Protective Services on them to keep Lucy away. Victoria questioned the furious red-head if she thought that was in the best interest of the baby. Still angry, Phyllis retreated and left the Abbott home. Daniel told the couple that he would deal with his mother. As he left, Victoria told Billy that she believed that Phyllis would do whatever she could to keep them from getting Lucy. After settling with the baby, Victoria gave her a bottle and gushed with Billy how she felt that Lucy knew that she was home again.

Sam walked passed Sharon's room to see that she was crying. When he walked in, he made a comment concerning Piper. As she talked to him, she called Piper Cassie. He asked her who Cassie was, as she shared with him that it was her daughter that had died. She shared how everyone fell in love with Cassie and that today was the anniversary of her death. Wanting to cheer her up, Sam offered to cook her dinner and headed off to get items from the market. When he returned from the market, he shared that he was going to prepare pasta primavera for the both of them. After accidentally dropping a glass, Sharon quickly apologized. Sam told her that items are easy to replace but Sharon said in turn that loved ones could not. Later on, Sam brought dinner for the two of them, where Sharon talked more about Cassie. As the two ate, she complimented Sam on his cooking.

At Gloworm, Nick, having lunch with Faith, shared his memories of Cassie with her. As he went on to describe her sister, Adam, who arrived with Diane, decided to interrupt their moment. When he went on to talk to Faith, Nick snapped for him to leave her alone. Adam, wanting to get a rise out of Nick, threw out the news that he had a new roommate. When Diane showed up to tell Adam that their suite at the Athletic Club was ready, Nick instantly thought that something was going on between the two of them. He tossed out that he didn't care at all about Sharon. Adam reminded Nick of his past deeds that ruined his marriage to Sharon, which angered him to the point where he scooped up Faith and left. When Diane made a slight suggestive pass at him, Adam reminded her that they were only partners, nothing more; his love is for Sharon. Assuming that he and Sharon worked together also to rub it in Victor and Nick's face, he corrected her and told her that his love with Sharon was real and that she felt the same way about him. He went on to share that while everyone was against him, it was Sharon that forgave him and stuck by him. He went on to talk about their first Thanksgiving dinner together: pasta primavera. When Diane was informed that their suite was ready, she departed leaving Adam alone. He thought on the day he proposed to Sharon, causing him to shed tears.

Back home, Daniel and Phyllis got into it about his going against his word with her about keeping Lucy. Daniel told his mother that she didn't hear anything at all he said, but she stated that she heard him but knows that he would eventually change his mind once Lucy was with him long enough. Phyllis went on to put down Billy and Victoria's character, saying that Child Protective Services wouldn't agree to them caring for the baby. When Daniel shot back that she wasn't the best parent herself, she defended herself, saying that she was a great mother to Summer. Daniel told her that he was done fighting over Lucy and that he was thankful that Daisy was far away. When he left her, Phyllis, still focused on getting Lucy, started to go on the Restless Style website. She soon started typing in her blog, Homewreckers of Genoa City in hopes that Daisy would see the article and picture of Daniel and Lucy. Meanwhile, back at the Abbott home, Billy and Victoria discussed setting up the apartment above the garage for Daniel, with belongings of Lucy's just in case Child Protective Services tried to step in. She also mentioned that she was glad that Billy would be abiding by the gag order, preventing any mentions of the case and Lucy in the magazine.

Katherine returned home and overheard Jill talking to Nina and Chance about keeping the news of his deployment from her. She entered and snapped at Jill for trying to hide the truth from her. She handed Chance the deployment papers. Realizing she was upset, Chance told her grandmother that he couldn't leave unless he received her blessing. Jill left to answer the door to Paul and Heather, who wanted to talk to Chance. When Nina saw Heather, she left the room, commenting that she'd never forgive Heather for Chance's decision. Still wanting his grandmother's blessing, Chance received it, although reluctant. Knowing that he had to make things right with his mother, Chance, along with Jill, headed upstairs to talk to her. Heather, attempted to pull him away so she could get her say in but Chance told her he had to talk to her later. Meanwhile, Paul and Katherine talked about the defunct relationship between Chance and Heather. The conversation soon turned to Tucker, where Katherine asked Paul if he could help her locate Tucker's son.
