( — Today in soap land, Carolyn 'Opinion' Hinsey posted on her Facebook page that two current "As The World Turns" actors would be appearing on an ABC soap near you in the next couple of weeks – one as a recast and one a new face on the canvas on either "All My Children," "General Hospital" or "One Life to Live." The question is, who is talking to Hinsey?

Typically, when we ask for confirmation of who is coming or who is going from a series, we receive the standard "no comment" or "we [insert talking network media relations representative] do not comment on rumors." In the case of this report, we received neither. So what's the deal? We talked to those very high up at ABC Daytime and while the word "no" was never used, the word "yes" wasn't either. Does that mean Carolyn Hinsey is lying or wrong? After all, it was Hinsey that said "Please stop posting links to crazy web stories on my FB page," in reply to our report of Roger Howarth (an "As The World Turns" actor, by the way) returning to "One Life to Live" in the coming months by her "friends" commenting on said page. In fact, she said "If it's in Digest and/or TV Guide, THEN it's true :-)" Interesting how her drop wasn't in either publication, nor could she say which actor was coming. If you know something, say something. That's similar to the "If you see something, say something" mantra New York City's Metropolitan Transit Authority says to passengers in billboards and announcements through out its train system.

Instead of passing along news her buddies at "As The World Turns" are supposedly giving her by letting her know they'll be appearing on ABC in the coming weeks, even though ABC doesn't even know it or will admit to it, why not promote your employer (in this case Soap Opera Digest) and alert readers to some sort of exclusive with this news? It isn't like the magazine is afraid to promote gossip reports. In one issue they reported a soap star wasn't supporting their shows fan club, which wasn't worth the piece of paper it was written on, and in its newest issue, the magazine is reporting that ABC's "General Hospital" would be cutting its cast down due to budget cuts in the near future – an ABC representative provided a "we do not comment" regarding that piece of news, by the way. Interestingly, if in fact proven true, that would put "GH" out of the running for a new or recast character, which would leave "All My Children" or "One Life to Live" left to pick up the pieces as the "World" ends.

For "One Life to Live," which is the only New York City based soap opera left remaining now that " As The World Turns" is ending its run after 54-years next Friday, the show recently released a casting call for the role of Joey Buchanan. As for "All My Children," which headed to Los Angeles in January in order to prevent cancellation talks from becoming a reality, it is currently involved in a massive murder mystery that doesn't show any indications of bringing in new characters at this time. Of course things can change.

In any case, Soap Opera Network will be following this story and if it's on our website, you can rest assured "THEN it's true :-)"

( — While had your first look at Maura West as the new Diane Jenkins on CBS' "The Young and the Restless," Soap Opera Network has your second and more flattering look at the actress.

As previously reported, West is joining the cast of the drama series in the role of Diane Jenkins. The role was last played by actress Susan Walters from 2001-2004, and most recently appeared earlier this year for a few episodes. Alex Donnelley originated the role in 1982. When she was last in Genoa City full-time, Diane was romantically linked to Jack Abbott (portrayed by Peter Bergman,).

In June, Maura won her second Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Backstage, the actress told Soap Opera Network that she was heading to California with her family to look for work just days after "As The World Turns" taped its last episodes. West's decision to move sure paid off quickly as she reported to work at the CBS Television City Studio, where "The Young and the Restless" is taped, on Wednesday, September 1 for a first airdate set for Friday, October 8.

West made a name for herself whens he joined "As The World Turns" in the role of Carly Tenney Snyder on April 11, 1995. After just a year with the show, the actress found herself leaving Oakdale. Thankfully fans found that her departure wouldn't last as she returned to the soap on September 10, 1997, where she remained until the show airs its last episode on Friday, September.

‘One Life’ Recasting a Buchanan Heir

Friday, September 10, 2010 at 4:00 AM ET by Scotty Gore

      Photo: ABC

( — “One Life to Live” is on the hunt for a new Joey Buchanan, one day after releasing a “wide release” casting call for the contract role of Viki and Clint’s youngest son.

In the new audition script, Joey is described as being in his “mid to late 30s,  and a extremely good-looking, successful, warm, kind, charming, finance guy.” In 2007, “Castle” star Nathan Fillion was the most recent actor to step into the role (for two episodes – he had previously played Joey from 1994-97), which has already been recast a half dozen times since Joey first aired back in 1982.

Last year, “OLTL” reportedly went after “As the World Turns” star Daniel Cosgrove for the role, however, he turned them down.  As for what brings Joey back to Llanview, “One Life’s” Head Writer Ron Carlivati hints that “Our thoughts for Kelly [Gina Tognoni] are turning to romance.” Back in the day Joey and Kelly were one of Llanview’s more popular young couples.

      In other news…

“OLTL” has also released a casting call for the heavily recurring role of “Eddie,” who is described as in his “40′s, early 50′s, underneath his hot, handsome, sexy, charming exterior lies an extremely violent and abusive nature.”  It is rumored that Eddie is the father of the three Ford brothers and that he will first air sometime in October.  According to reports, the script involves Eddie visiting the apartment of his sons, who want nothing to do with him.

Mandy Evans booked an unknown “Under 5″ role on “OLTL” on August 20th.  She taped her scenes on August 25th.

Terrell Tilford (Greg) has added more airdates for his character on his Facebook page.  In addition to September 10th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th, 27th, 28th, and 30th, fans can also expect to see him in the October 1st & 4th and November 2nd episodes.

The Jessica/Natalie baby bump picture discussed recently is from a scene that airs the week of September 27th.

Kristen Alderson tweeted on September 8th that she had just finished up a photo shoot with her co-stars Nic Robuck (James) and Brandon Buddy (Cole).

And Kassie DePaiva (Blair) tells fans ”Thanks for all the nice post and emails about my scenes with Matt [Walton - Eli] this week [August 31st - September 3rd]. Those scenes were exhausting but I thought they turned out well. Let me know what you think…” Prior to that, she stated that “I’m loving working so much. Keep watching…. it’s getting good!!!!”

ABC Gives ‘One Life to Live’ a New Look

        Photo: ABC

( — Although fans shouldn’t expect the ABC sudser to transition to HD anytime soon, they will notice a slightly different appearance to the show in the coming months.

With NBC’s ”Days of Our Lives” expected to make the switch in November, “OLTL” remains one of only two daytime dramas (“The Bold and the Beautiful” being the other) that wiill not be broadcast in High Definition as of this fall.  However, Broadcasting & Cable is reporting that ABC “will start shooting episodes [of 'OLTL'] in the 16 X 9 [widescreen] format for December airing.”  A first airdate has not been announced.

Last year the network announced that “One Life to Live” would convert to HD upon its move into sister soap “All My Children’s” old studio’s following that show’s relocation to near Los Angeles, however those plans were soon scrapped due to a sagging economy.  Plans for the “AMC” conversion went on as scheduled, due to the fact that the equipment at the show’s new West Coast studios had already been upgraded.  “General Hospital” began broadcasting in HD in April of 2009 after ABC reportedly spent upwards of $3,000,000 to make the move a reality.  And ABC’s morning gabfest “The View” made the transition in 2006.
