Neil and Devon know instantly that it is not good news The three enter her room and Olivia gives Lily the news; telling her that they do have a course of action to treat her cancer. Knowing that Lily needs him with her, Mac offers to go in search of him and soon locates him at the bus station set to leave Genoa City. Cane doesn’t believe that and tells Mac that there is nothing for him in Genoa City after all that has happened. Frustrated at his refusal to come with her Mac blurts out that Lily has been diagnosed with cancer and is at the hospital. At the hospital, Neil decides his place is with his daughter and he decides to step down as CEO of Chancellor Industries. Later that evening, Mac comes to see Lily with a laptop and DVDs of Lily’s greatest movies, not letting on that Cane was behind the whole thing. Mac heads back to the trailer to give Cane the news about Lily’s surgery and heads out; missing Billy by a few minutes. When Billy arrives and finds Cane stepping out of the shower, he’s livid and full of his own conclusions to why he’s there. Before Cane can explain, he throws him out. In the meantime, Olivia and Neil are tryinig to convince a stubborn Lily to go forward with the surgery that is lined up but she wants to harvest her eggs. Olivia and Neil’s stepping out of the room gives Lily enough time to split the hospital in search for Cane. She find herself at Jimmy’s where Mac and Billy are in a heated arguement about Cane. ( — Unlike that of her co-star Robin Strasser, Erika Slezak’s future with “One Life to Live” appears secure, at least for now.

With reports in recent weeks of Robin Strasser’s (Dorian Lord) take-it-or-leave-it contract negotiations with “One Life” and ABC, many fans of the long-running daytime drama have feared that the show’s grand dame Erika Slezak (Viki Davidson) might suffer a similar fate.

Fortunately however, Slezak assures fans in her June 29th online newsletter that she and the soap will soon be hammering out a new contract. “Nobody has said to me that I am leaving the show. My contract is up for renegotiation, and they have indicated a willingness to renegotiate, so in other words, they want me to stay. So we‘ll see what happens. But I believe I am going to stay unless they want otherwise — but I don‘t know — all I know is that we are going to negotiate,” the actress contends.

Slezak is “One Life to Live’s” longest running castmember, having joined the soap on March 17th, 1971, becoming the third actress to take on the role Victoria Lord. In her 38 years in Llanview, she has been the recipient of six Daytime Emmy Awards for Lead Actress (a record she shares with fellow soap stars Anthony Geary and Justine Deas), as well as a Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Couple (which she shares with former co-star Mark Derwin).

In addition to re-assuring her fans that she has no desire of leaving “OLTL” anytime soon (even going as saying “no it is not,” when asked if the word retirement was in her vocabulary at this time), Slezak reveals that her character Viki has a big storyline coming up next month. “Yes — absolutely. We have started shooting it and let‘s see, what we are doing now will appear in August I think. So yes, there is a story. A good story.”

As for Viki’s rivalry with arch-nemesis Dorian Lord, Slezak quips that “there is a good storyline with Dorian. You will see in upcoming stories — that relationship is very much alive. And it gets more so. I think we are going to have fun with this next story that is coming up.” With regards to Viki’s fiance Charlie, she contends that “yes, he is going to be involved [in the storyline as well].”

The “One Life” vet dishes that she will begin her annual month long vacation around July 27th, and will be away from the set for four weeks, one of which (the first week of August), the show will go dark as cast and crew are currently ahead of their production schedule. And with pre-tapes and post-tapes figured in, many viewers may not even notice Viki is gone during that time.

To read more of the newsletter, including what Slezak has to say about Viki/Charlie and Bo/Nora’s double wedding, the overwhelming number of e-mails and letters the soap receives on her behalf, “One Life to Live’s” out-of-sequence taping, and her recent lunch with ABC Daytime President Brian Frons in which they discussed the Viki’s future, click here.

Lisa LoCicero ( — The event was free and you paid for your own food, but it was one of the best events I’ve ever been to at the “General Hospital” Fan Club Weekend. Which event am I talking about? Lisa LoCicero’s.

Brunch with Lisa LoCicero was a wonderful experience. The event wasn’t overcrowded as only a limited number of people could attend. Lisa was able to have full-on conversations with her fans in addition to taking photos and signing autographs. She even had time to sit down and eat herself. Which event can you honestly say you’ve had the same experience?

Soaps in Depth magazine is here covering Lisa’s event as well and according to their conversation with Lisa, Jolivia (Johnny and Olivia) fans can expect some hot make out scenes between the duo in the near future. “Wait ’til you see it!”

Jim Warren is also here and despite what many of you think, he’s actually a nice guy. He took group shots of Lisa with all of her fans, so look out for that pic to hit the net in a couple of weeks.

After the Jim Warren shoot, Lisa gathered her fans together in a big circle for a Q&A session. She answered questions about her scenes with Brandon Barash (Johnny) and Maurice Benard (Sonny). For reference, she’ll be having some nice scenes with Johnny next week, in addition to her upcoming make out session. Lisa noted that often than not the actors will hide their scripts behind a pillow while they are in between takes, so if you see a character sitting down on a couch in an episode, it is likely the actor has their script lying around close to them.

Lisa is a supporter of a potential Claudia/Dante pairing as she’s seen the chemistry that Sarah Brown (Claudia) and Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) share. I’d have to agree with Lisa as Claudia will be losing her baby next week after learning that Sonny is really the father. With Ric (Rick Hearst) no longer on the show, it is about time Claudia got a man that is willing to sex her up and play against her strengths and weaknesses without being kept in the dark for a change. Though Dante will have his work cut out for him as Claudia will seek revenge on those who’ve wronged her. Watch out Port Charles.

Have any of you ever thought that Lisa seems to resemble Sandra Bullock (“The Proposal”) and Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda, “GH”) just a little? Apparently you aren’t the only one. Lisa heard from her agent that the show was contemplating having her come in as a Brenda recast, but Lisa made it clear that those were “shoes [I] wasn’t willing to fill.” As for Sandra, Lisa noted that a classmate of her son’s told her that “you look like a lady from a commercial I saw from a movie. You have to marry me.”

My thanks goes out to Michelle Bell, Shelley Brown, Angelina Herrera, and Jen Brown at Lisa LoCicero Online, who organized the event and made the experience one to remember.

( — “One Life to Live” channels a pair of deceased reclusive New York socialites for an upcoming fantasy sequence involving two lovelorn characters.

Llanview aristocrats Dorian Lord and her niece Blair Cramer are two women who have recently found themselves in a place they never thought they would be — totally alone and utterly miserable. Further adding salt to the wound is that fact everyone else they encounter appears happy and serene.

Blair recently lost the ‘love of her life’ Todd Manning to his old flame Téa Delgado, while Dorian’s new love interest, Ray Montez, hightailed it back to his native Columbia after his psychotic daughter confessed to killing her own mother in cold blood.

Friday, July 31st, the two aging debutantes make an attempt to drown their sorrows by indulging themselves in fancy drinks of the alcoholic nature, and pricey massages and beauty treatments.

But by the following Monday, Blair’s mind begins to drift away to thoughts of what her life, as well as her Aunt Dorian’s, would be like if neither were to ever find love again. As she daydreams, she pictures the two of them in a scene straight out of the cult film “Grey Gardens,” becoming eccentric old women who have let the outside world pass them by.

For those who may not understand the reference, “Grey Gardens” was a 1975 Albert Maysles documentary starring Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale (aunt of former First Lady Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis), and her daughter of the same name. The feature film depicted the everyday lives of the reclusive socialite mother/daughter duo as they lived in the dilapidated Grey Gardens mansion in an affluent neighorhood in East Hampton, New York.

For several decades, the two women lived alone in the old home, surviving on little money and in near total isolation. The elder Beale (referred to as “Big Edie”), was married to Phelan Beale, who purchased the home, built just before the turn of the century, in 1905. Following their divorce only a few years later, mother and daughter kept possession of the mansion, while Phelan moved to another part of town. For nearly fifty years, the duo would continue to call Grey Gardens home.

By the early 1970s however, the Beale’s faced eviction by the Suffolk County Health Department, which was aghast to learn that the house was infested with fleas, overrun with cats and raccoons, had no running water or indoor plumbing, become a dumping ground for garbage, and was nearing collapse. However, Big Edie’s nieces Jackie Onassis and her sister donated the necessary funds to help bring the home up to code. Around this time, Albert and David Maysles were granted special permission to interview the ladies and tell their story on camera.

Big Edie died 1977, and Little Edie finally sold the home two years later (she would survive until 2002). The home was purchased by Ben Bradlee, former editor of the Washington Post, and his wife Sally Quinn, who eventually had Grey Gardens completely restored to the mansion’s original grandeur.

Following the release of the original film, several other theater and film adaptations were released. Among them was the 2009 dramatization of the original 1975 film for HBO, and starred Brew Barrymore, Jessica Lange, and Daniel Baldwin.

For more information on “Grey Gardens,” click here.

As for “One Life to Live,” look for the fantasy sequence involving Kassie DePaiva and Robin Strasser as Blair Cramer and Dorian Lord to air on Monday, August 3rd. The scenes will not encompass the entire episode however, as other characters and storylines will also be featured.  To view larger versions of any of the pictures, click here.
