Today marks “General Hospital’s” 13,000th episode, and in honor of the very special event, several of the sudser’s stars are taking to Twitter to chat live with fans!

After Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) commented on her Twitter page earlier this week after a fan asked, “When will it be time for Ric to come home???” and the actress responded with, “shooting it this week ull see it next month,” fans have been left wondering if that meant Rick Hearst would be returning to ABC’s “General Hospital.” Today, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that the actor is indeed heading back to Port Charles.

There have been a slew of stories celebrating soap operas’ recent turnaround in the ratings game as of late, but it’s an unexpected trend worth repeating: Soaps are back, baby! And “General Hospital,” which was marching toward an ABC death similar to “All My Children” and “One Life to Live,” is doing particularly well. Soap Opera Network sat down with the sudser’s very own William DeVry (Julian Jerome), who discussed some particulars of why “GH” is on such an upswing. And while he was at it, he revealed some details on what’s to come in Julian’s life, as well!

Earlier this year, ABC’s “General Hospital” released “Love In Maine,” which was a corporate tie-in with Disney/ABC Television Group’s Hyperpion Books and the debut novel by the fictional “GH” character Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos). Unfortunately, upon release Connie Falconeri had all the credit until TJ (Tequan Richmond), Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) and Shawn (Sean Blakemore) helped Molly set the record straight on the soap. Five months since the release of “Maine,” Hyperion Books has announced it plans to release the sequel to the novel as an eBook.

Thursday, July 25 marks the official kick off to the annual “General Hospital” Fan Club Weekend taking place at the Sportsmen’s Lodge Hotel and Events Center in Studio City, CA. With four events planned (three on-site and one off-site), fans of the ABC Daytime drama series will have ample opportunity to spot some of their favorite stars. HLN, the host network of the annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards, has announced additional presenters for the awards telecast, now in its 40th year, presented live from The Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 16, 8-10 p.m., ET/PT.

Although a show spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment at press time, a representative for Lindsey Morgan has informed Soap Opera Network that the actress has already appeared in her last episodes of ABC’s “General Hospital.”
