KABC featured on set interviews with the likes of Dominic Zamprogna (Dante), Sean Blakemore (Shawn), Jason Thompson (Patrick), Laura Wright (Carly), Ryan Paevey (Nathan) and executive producer Frank Valentini to promote the time slot switch of ABC's "General Hospital" back to 2:00 PM beginning Monday, September 8 in the Los Angeles market, while it's New York counterpart, WABC, has released several promos highlighting the sexy storylines and hot stars of the daytime drama series including the aforementioned Thompson and Wright, William deVry (Julian), Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Kirsten Storms (Maxie). "GH" moves back to 3:00 PM in the New York market also on Monday, September 8.
As previously reported, seven of the eight ABC Owned Television (OTV) stations - WABC in New York, KABC in Los Angeles, WLS in Chicago, WPVI in Philadelphia, KGO in San Francisco, KTRK in Houston, WTVD in Raleigh-Durham - along with KSAT in San Antonio will be moving "General Hospital" back to its former time period of 3:00 PM ET/2:00 PM CT/PT beginning Monday, September 8.
Seven of the eight ABC Owned and Operated (O&O) television stations will be returning "General Hospital" back to its 3:00 PM ET/2:00 PM PT slot beginning Monday, September 8, the network confirmed today. Those stations include WABC in New York, KABC in Los Angeles, WLS in Chicago, WPVI in Philadelphia, KGO in San Francisco, KTRK in Houston, WTVD in Raleigh-Durham and KSAT in San Antonio, which is the sole non-ABC O&O station making the change.
With the new television season kicking off in just a few weeks, ABC stations that signed up to air the no longer in production daytime talker "Katie" in 2012, following ABC's decision to secede the 3:00 PM ET/2:00 PM PT network time slot to their affiliates in hopes that most of them would choose to pick up the talk show, has resulted in some of those stations deciding to move the network's "General Hospital" back to where it aired for more than 25 of its 51+ year run, it was confirmed today by ABC.
As previously reported, ABC soap opera "General Hospital" will lose its coveted 3:00 PM ET/2:00 PM CT/PT timeslot beginning in September 2012 when the network hands the hour back to its local affiliates. The move will leave ABC's daytime lineup with just three hours left to program with "The View" already secured in the 11:00 AM ET/10:00 AM CT/PT slot. New talk shows "The Chew" and "The Revolution" will go head-to-head with "General Hospital" when it comes to the almighty dollar (ie. which show brings in enough income relative to cost) in a battle for the remaining two hours (1:00 PM ET/12:00 PM CT/PT; 2:00 PM ET/1:00 PM CT/PT). In place of "GH" beginning in September 2012 will be the new Disney/ABC Domestic Television syndicated series "Katie," hosted by journalist Katie Couric, which was just cleared in over 60% of the country just six weeks after the sales period began.
