CBS Daytime has announced a week-long Twitter event leading up to the “40th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards,” which airs live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, June 16 from 8:00 – 10:00 PM ET on HLN.
As we previously reported, “General Hospital” alum Rena Sofer (ex-Lois Cerullo) is “The Bold and the Beautiful” bound and set to play Quinn Fuller, a jewelry designer and the mother of Darin Brooks’ Wyatt Fuller. But there’s more to the story, folks!
“The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Heather Tom has taken home the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress for her work as Katie Logan the past two years in a row, and with yet another year of both suburp storylines and emotional work, the actress just may nab the award again! “It doesn’t get old; it’s very fun, and I’m very grateful,” she says of the nomination, adding that she chose the episodes in which Kate, in the throes of her post-partum depression, leaves Bill and Will. “I was really proud of it, and it’s funny, because I was so pregnant doing it, and it was my catharsis. I would come in and be like, ‘I’m crazy today, so I’m just going to bawl all day long and get it out of my system and then go home!’”
News that “The Young and the Restless’” Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor) passed away this morning has rocked the entertainment community, and the beloved actress’ colleagues have responded with an outpour of memories, loving words and final farewells via Twitter. In a statement released after word spread on the passing of Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor, “The Young and the Restless,”), Bradley P. Bell (executive producer, “The Bold and the Beautiful”), the son of the late William J. Bell, who co-created both “Y&R” and “B&B”) with wife Lee Phillip Bell, said, “Jeanne Cooper – A genuine person, gifted performer, good friend to all. Never before and never again. A true artist and legend. She will be missed. My thoughts and my love are with her family.”
“The Bold and the Beautiful” was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award this year for its first same sex romance storyline “My Two Moms” featuring the characters of Karen and Danielle Spencer (Joanna Johnson and Crystal Chappell) and their welcoming daughter Caroline (Linsey Godfrey). Veteran “B&B” script writers (and LGBT community members) Tracey Ann Kelly and Patrick Mulcahey, along with Head Writer/Executive Producer Bradley P. When we reported that Marlene McPherson (pictured right, with former “DAYS” co-head writer Darrell Ray Thomas) had been hired on as head writer of Prospect Park’s version of “All My children” back on January 23, it was unclear at the time as to whether she would be joined by a co-head writer. Soap Opera Network has since learned that it’ll be a “Days of our Lives” reunion of sorts for “AMC” as McPherson will be joined by Elizabeth Snyder, who was an Associate Head Writer at “DAYS” from 2011-2012.
CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” has cast former “Guiding Light” stars Karla Mosley and Lawrence Saint-Victor in the contract roles of Maya Avant and Carter Walton, respectively. Their casting was announced by “B&B” executive producer and head writer Bradley P. Bell.
After more than 25 years and over 6,450 episodes, CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” will say goodbye to one of its own as Susan Flannery says farewell to the drama series when her character, Stephanie Forrester, succumbs to lung cancer on the Monday, November 26 episode.
