On the Tuesday, September 1, 2026, episode of “Beyond the Gates,” Andre (Sean Freeman) realized that he and Carlton (Robert Christopher Riley) had dipped into the same well, Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) observed vibes between Izaiah (Lami) and Kat (Colby Nixon), and Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) got a taste of Bill’s medicine.

Isn’t She Lovely

Outside Uptown, Izaiah happened upon Carlton, who said he was grateful that Eva was back running things at his and Ted’s clinic. Izaiah wondered how Eva was feeling emotionally, knowing she had gone to see Carlton to have her surgical scar looked after. Carlton gently noted that physical recovery often happened long before emotional recovery, and that it took time for a person to make peace with their scars.

Meanwhile, Eva (Ambyr Michelle) was reading Smitty’s article about Lia Whitmore’s death when Martin (Brandon Claybon) approached, having bought himself some tech to help with Tyrell’s imminent move to college. When Martin mentioned that Kat and Chelsea had to cancel their trip to Tokyo because of manufacturer Takahashi’s ties to sweatshops, Eva initially found it funny that snooty Kat would have anything to do with factories. But Martin reminded Eva that Kat was actually a caring person, evidenced by her willingness to donate a part of her liver to her. Eva had to agree, though, when she admitted to having trouble accepting her surgery scar.

Martin wondered if Eva was jealous because Kat didn’t bear one. Denying it, Eva decided that she should bear the scar, since Kat had been the one to make the sacrifice. Martin told Eva that she was battle-tested, not damaged, and that she would soon accept herself the way everyone else had. Eva was grateful for Martin’s “big brother energy.”

Same Girl

Chelsea and Naomi sat amused as Dani (Karla Mosley) spun through her closet trying to decide what to pack for her Seoul trip with Andre – who happened to come upstairs just as Dani said she would fly back to support her girls should Bill suffer another medical episode. The Hamilton sisters saw Andre’s arrival as their cue to leave, and Andre wondered why Dani wasn’t ready yet, hinting that she was stalling and giving her an out if she wanted to stay behind in case Bill relapsed.

Dani insisted that she and Andre needed time together – even if he’d be spending most of his time working, she could shoo away his female groupies. Andre smiled that Dani was the only woman he wanted, then realized he’d left some necessary lenses at his studio. Promising to pick up food for them afterward, Andre went to Uptown and ran into Carlton, learning that he had enjoyed a wild night with a woman he had randomly met at the bar.

However, when Carlton revealed that his mystery lady was Joey’s sister, Heather, Andre immediately tried to drive a wedge between them, claiming that Heather’s connection to Joey was bad for everyone. Carlton became irate and accused Andre of being a hypocrite, as he had certainly had a rep as a playboy until he’d settled down with Dani. Andre was adamant that something was off about Heather, but Carlton wouldn’t listen and skulked off.

Self Control

Kat met with Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix), bummed about her and Chelsea having to cancel their Tokyo trip and at a loss for how to explain the cancellation to their followers without risking a defamation suit from Takahashi, whose sweatshop practices hadn’t yet been verified. Nicole suggested that Kat use the unexpected free time to take a trip with Tomas, but Kat countered that she and Tomas were too busy to get away. Kat was flustered when Nicole commented on the “unresolved tension” she’d sensed between the couple and said that people made time for each other if they really wanted to.

At Orphey Gene’s, Izaiah saw Chelsea and put his foot in his mouth by greeting her as a “stalker survivor.” Chelsea was at least glad Allison was safely behind bars, then told Izaiah about the snafu with Takahashi. Izaiah was so vocal about how disappointed Kat must be about losing the Tokyo connection that Chelsea asked how Eva would feel about his strong sympathies. After Izaiah left, Kat entered and complained to Chelsea that Tomas had failed “the Nicole Dupree Boyfriend Test.” When Chelsea mentioned what a cheering section Izaiah had been for her, Kat echoed Izaiah’s sentiment that they were just friends.

Eva was amazed when she came home and found that Izaiah had strewn the apartment with candles based on their conversation that, given her discomfort over her scar, she might be able to graduate from making love in the dark to being intimate by candlelight. Izaiah led Eva down a path he had formed with the lights, but both of their phones began buzzing. Eva stressed that she was still on call with the clinic and picked up, telling a disheartened Izaiah that they could resume being romantic once business hours were over.

Who’s Foolin’ Who

Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) sat at his desk, unable to concentrate. Hayley (Marquita Goings) arrived, noting that Bill had left before she had woken up. Bill angrily came out and said he knew Hayley hadn’t had a dental appointment the day before, ordering her to “stop playin’ in my face,” because he had seen her with “Sammy.”

Hayley turned on the waterworks and claimed that the man who had held her hand during her “miscarriage” had needed a friend, then asked how she was supposed to turn her back on someone who had been so important to her. Bill still wanted to know why Hayley had lied about where she was going, so Hayley sputtered that she’d been sure Chelsea, Naomi, and Dani would have run with it if they’d learned she’d been anywhere near “Sammy.” Bill agreed to forgive Hayley as long as she had told her last lie.

Naomi came in, prompting Hayley to leave; Bill asked Naomi if Jacob was going to go undercover again now that it seemed The Impaler had taken another life. Certain Jacob wouldn’t, Naomi mentioned she’d been helping Dani pack, which took Bill aback. Bill covered, saying the timing was off for “the backbone of our family” to be going overseas. His wheels began to turn when Naomi added that Dani was home, waiting to be picked up for the airport.

All You Can Eat

Hayley called Randy (Maurice P. Kerry), who barely missed being spotted by Chelsea at the diner. Randy was ready to carry out their plot against Bill after Hayley reported that Bill had seen them together. Hayley predicted that the time was coming, since she planned to smother Bill’s Orphey Gene’s sandwich with their “special sauce.”

Later, Hayley returned to the office with the food and nixed using her dropper to dose it with poison, opting instead to pour the liquid onto it. She was nearly caught by Naomi and barely got her bottle of toxin back into her purse before Naomi could see it. Naomi didn’t know where Bill was and resolved that his sandwich wouldn’t go to waste, grabbing half of it.

At first, Hayley tried to stop Naomi from consuming it, but finally she threw up her hands and said, “Fine, eat the damn sandwich,” declaring that she was going to save “the other half” for Bill. After Naomi observed that the filling had a little kick, Hayley smirked that she hoped Naomi would “savor every bite.”

See You Again

A flummoxed Dani called Nicole, asking her sister for advice on which shoes to take to South Korea. After guiding Dani to include some sensible footwear in addition to the haute couture heels, Naomi got the feeling that Dani was holding up the trip in taking so long to pack, as Andre had. Dani hung up hurriedly and got her bulging suitcases downstairs, kneeling on one to get it to close.

Dani was surprised to find Bill on her door. He said that his heart stopping three times had made him realize he wouldn’t have had a chance to say goodbye to his loved ones, so he wished Dani bon voyage and confided that he appreciated her. In fact, Bill added, he should have appreciated Dani while he was married to her. After Bill laughed about her customarily “overstuffed” luggage and got a zipper closed for her, Dani gave him a hug, which he eased into.
