On the Monday, August 24, 2026, episode of “Beyond the Gates,” Kat’s usual detective work once again saved the day; Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) walked the plank for Marcel (Darryl W. Handy), and Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) wasn’t home from the hospital five minutes before Hayley (Marquita Goings) gave him another extra-strength dose of her medicine.
Choppy Waters For Love Sailors: Marcel & Leslie
At the police station, Jacob (Jibre Hordges) noticed that Marcel was in a bad mood and guessed that things had soured between him and Leslie, who sauntered in on cue and dismissed Jacob. In one breath, Leslie told Marcel that she didn’t want to lose him, and in the next, she added that she didn’t want to live on his “rinky dink boat.” Still, Marcel, who growled that he would have stayed with his ex-wife if he wanted to be treated like crap, was intrigued when Leslie claimed she was willing to literally beg for his forgiveness.
Marcel and Leslie made out in her hotel room for a while until Marcel stopped it, wanting an apology from Leslie. She offered him sassy regrets, to which Marcel replied that he was ready to throw himself out this time. Leslie then became sincere and admitted that it meant a lot to her that Marcel wanted her to live with him – even ex-husband Alan had only tolerated her. Marcel accepted this, and after they made love, Leslie ordered up hot dogs and fries to align with his insistence that he was a regular guy with regular taste who wasn’t interested in money.
Case Of The Ex
In Bill’s office, Hayley asserted that Andre couldn’t be happy with Dani (Karla Mosley) prioritizing Bill over him. Dani scoffed that her marriage wasn’t based on scheming like Hayley’s, while Hayley accused Dani of getting Chelsea and Naomi riled up about the idea that Hayley was cheating on Bill. Naomi (Arielle Prepetit) entered, having heard the yelling from down the hall. Hayley left with the laptop Bill had asked her to retrieve, and Dani told Naomi that she was certain Hayley was up to something.
Naomi told her mother how Ashley had nearly banned Hayley from Bill’s room after the marrieds were caught in his hospital bed together. After a giggle over it, Naomi got a call from Jacob, who told her to be ready for a surprise where clothing was optional. Dani headed over to her parents’ house, where Anita (Tamara Tunie) and Vernon (Clifton Davis) were discussing Naomi taking over for Bill at the firm while he was away. The elder Duprees had differing opinions about whether Naomi would work with Bill indefinitely or return to her own practice.
Erase You
Dani arrived at the mansion and relayed that Naomi was down for a birthday celebration there with the family. Vernon and Anita were aware that it was the one-year anniversary of Chelsea’s kidnapping and asked Dani how Chelsea was holding up. Dani recalled that the crisis had helped her over the hostility she had felt toward Bill and paved the way for their current friendship. Anita noted that Dani and Bill were as close as they’d been when they were married, which worried her.
Anita didn’t think it was any of Dani’s business whether Hayley was having an affair; Dani affirmed that she just didn’t want her friend to be made a fool of. Dani winced when Anita reminded her that Bill had had his own affairs without caring about Dani’s feelings – and Vernon didn’t want Dani jumping in to help Bill pick up the pieces should he end up divorcing Hayley over her supposed infidelity.
Mrs. Officer
Sitting with Kat (Colby Nixon) at Uptown, Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) got a second call from an unknown number; Kat picked it up, only to hear breathing before it was hung up. Chelsea couldn’t be convinced that her captor, Allison, didn’t also remember what day it was and that she wasn’t trying to get in touch to unnerve her. Kat did her best to persuade Chelsea that Allison was safely locked behind bars, but after Kat dropped Chelsea off to get comfort from Madison, she went to the precinct to tell Jacob about the calls.
Jacob reiterated that Allison was being held in a forensic psychiatric facility where any calls Allison made would begin with a pre-recorded prompt. He also held that Chelsea would have been notified in the event of Allison’s escape. Still, he decided to call the facility and confirmed that Allison was still incarcerated there under maximum security; he also requested that her cell be searched for a contraband phone. Kat hugged Jacob and thanked him for taking her seriously.
Somebody’s Gotta Die
Bill was happy when Madison (Kenjah) reported that Dr. Wilkes had deemed him well enough to go home. Madison was still bothered that Bill didn’t have a proper diagnosis for his heart failure, but Bill thanked her for searching as hard as she’d been and smiled that he was looking forward to having her as a daughter-in-law. Later, Hayley brought Bill his laptop and kissed him when she learned he was being released. However, Ashley (Jen Jacob) walked in and scolded Hayley for once again being disrespectful of hospital policy.
Hayley gave Ashley a hard time, and Bill was all for following his recovery protocol until Ashley recommended that he attend outpatient cardiac rehab. He refused and went home with Hayley; she convinced him to take a shower and immediately dropped a double dose of poison into a glass of liquor. When Bill returned, he wasn’t sure his doctors would be okay with him drinking, but Hayley swore it was permissible, and he finished his drink in a few swallows.
The Heart Gently Weeps
As soon as Bill wanted to call his daughters to let them know he was out of the hospital, Hayley fumed about them accusing her of cheating. Bill assured her that he believed she was being faithful, and just as they began kissing, his door security app let them know that Chelsea and Naomi had arrived. Hayley rolled her eyes and snarked, “So much for calling first,” when they entered and were happy to see their father back in “fighting form,” as Bill called it.
Hayley excused herself to make dinner – and get away from her stepdaughters. Bill acknowledged the anniversary of Chelsea’s captivity and invited her to vent if she needed to; he then told Naomi that he had handled Tomás and reminded him that it was up to Bill and Naomi whether Madison accepted Mike’s settlement. Hayley returned to the foyer and overheard Bill telling his daughters that his newly implanted pacemaker now made him stronger than ever…
…suddenly Bill experienced pain in his heart! Chelsea screamed, and Naomi discovered that he had no pulse and that he wasn’t breathing!…
…yet, it was only a fantasy of Hayley, who rolled her eyes as Naomi and Chelsea happily bantered with their dad.
