Last week, “All My Children” legend Susan Lucci (Erica Kane) attended an intimate, exclusive tastemaker event at the Shangri-La Hotel in Toronto to celebrate the launch of Pluto TV Canada’s streaming channel dedicated to the much-missed former ABC daytime soap opera.

Currently airing an early summer marathon through July 20, featuring 12 new episode drops per week, the channel launched in Canada on Friday, May 1, following its roaring success internationally for BEONDTV+, which first launched the channel in September 2025 after acquiring international access rights to a select number of episodes and making them available as an On Demand option. In January, the service launched a 24/7 streaming channel exclusively for fans outside the U.S., with Pluto TV Canada and Plex being early adopters.

According to The TV Watercooler‘s Jeevan Brar, who attended the event with his aunt, Lucci took part in a Q&A, revealing that she shares a wardrobe with her iconic character and the first thing she would do should she be able to step back on the set of Pine Valley. “We had the same taste in clothes,” laughed Lucci, talking about the Dolce & Gabbana dress she was wearing. “The only thing is, I wear this, I wear this to a party, and she wore this around the house.” Meanwhile, she would “probably kiss somebody” on day one if/when the show returned to production. As for her favorite rival scene partner, Lucci noted Brooke English (Julia Barr) fit the bill.

Meanwhile, in 2024, it was first announced that Lifetime is looking to revive the “All My Children” universe with a pair of TV movies, which are being produced by “Live with Kelly and Mark” hosts Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, both of whom appeared on the long-running daytime drama series as lover Hayley Vaughan Santos and Mateo Santos, respectively.

Lucci Visits “The Social”

During her visit, Lucci also appeared on CTV’s “The Social,” a daytime talk show co-hosted by Melissa Grelo, Cynthia Loyst, Andrea Bain and correspondent Jess Allen.

During their conversation with the actress, Lucci noted how much the cast and crew adored the show’s creator, the late Agnes Nixon, who also created “One Life to Live.”

“I felt so, so honored to be the actress that Agnes Nixon told so many of her stories through,” shared Lucci. “And uh yeah, I knew we all called Agnes, um, a witch, a good witch, because she just knew what was vital to be put on TV, and sometimes we would have been working on a scene six months to a year ahead of time and then it would turn up on the front page of The New York Times.”

When asked about her time working with now Academy Award winner Michael B. Jordan (“Sinners”), who played Reggie Montgomery on the soap opera in the mid-to-late 2000s, Lucci said, “Michael played my stepson on ‘All My Children.’ He was Jack’s adopted son, Jack Montgomery, played by the fabulous Walt Willey, and he was wonderful from the beginning. He came [to the studio] all ready; he was on time, he was respectful of everybody, realizing that you’re part of a team, you know, in every kind of thing it’s all collaborative, isn’t it all collaborative? Set designers and cameramen and lighting crews, and he just knew that, and he was prepared; he knew his lines; he was very natural in his delivery, and he was just a really good person, a lovely guy from the very beginning.”

Broadcasting 10,755 episodes from January 5, 1970 – September 23, 2011, on ABC, “All My Children” received 574 Emmy Award Nominations and 191 Emmy wins throughout its run. During its heyday, the soap opera’s popularity made it the most widely recorded television show in the United States, and, in a departure from societal norms at the time, its audience was estimated at 30% male. Throughout

The series consistently ranked among daytime television’s highest-rated and most critically acclaimed programs, while it took time to address social issues with immediacy, impact, illumination and unparalleled drama and continually distinguished itself by introducing socially relevant and progressive storylines. The character-driven plotlines remain among the most important aspects of the show and are celebrated widely in television history as groundbreaking “firsts.”
