Several daytime broadcast shows were preempted on Friday, August 15 due to breaking news coverage of U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin meeting in Alaska to discuss a potential peace agreement over Ukraine. As a result, Nielsen reported breakouts in particular for “NBC News Daily” and “GMA3,” and a partial breakout for “General Hospital,” during the week of August 11-15, 2025.
Overall, most daytime broadcast shows saw significant drops among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, likely due to lower than expected HUT (homes using television) levels, at least among the key sales demographics and particularly on Thursday, August 14, 2025, which was the lowest rated day of the week for three of the four network soap operas — Wednesday, August 13, 2025 was the lowest-rated day of the week for “General Hospital.”
For the week, repeats of “The Price is Right” remained on top among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, led by the second half-hour with its 0.32 rating in the former and its 0.48 rating in the latter. “TODAY 3rd Hour” again took third place in Women 18-49 (0.23 rating) with “The Young and the Restless” taking the same spot in Women 25-54 (0.38 rating).
Compared to the same week last year, every daytime broadcast show saw significant declines demographically with “The Bold and the Beautiful” dropping the most among Women 18-49, down -0.11 (0.17 rating vs. 0.28 rating), and “NBC News Daily” dropping the most among Women 25-54, also down -0.11 (0.16 rating vs. 0.27 rating).
“The Bold and the Beautiful” tied its season low among Women 25-54 (0.34 rating) and set a new low among Women 18-49 (0.17 rating). “The Young and the Restless” set a new low among Women 25-54 (0.38 rating) and recorded its second-lowest performance of the season among Women 18-49 (0.21 rating).
“Beyond the Gates” set a new low among Women 18-49 (0.16 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.28 rating) while “General Hospital” tied its series low among Women 18-49 (0.16 rating). The long-running ABC soap remained on par with its week ago performance among Women 25-54 (0.29 rating).
“GMA3” was the only daytime broadcast show to see week-to-week gains, up +0.02 among Women 18-49 (0.13 rating vs. 0.11 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.19 rating vs. 0.17 rating). Meanwhile, “NBC News Daily” set a new low among Women 18-49 (0.10 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.16 rating).
Among Total Viewers, “The Young and the Restless” (2.959 million) was the only daytime broadcast show to see year-over-year growth, adding +58,000 more viewers compared to the same week last year (2.959 million vs. 2.901 million).
