As the 2024-2025 television season winds down, ABC is already looking to the future, renewing veteran dramas “9-1-1,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Rookie” and “Will Trent,” as well as freshman sitcom “Shifting Gears.”

The five shows join the already renewed comedy “Abbott Elementary” and breakout hit drama “High Potential” as scripted shows returning to the network for the 2025-2026 television season.

In terms of new shows, the network has handed a straight-to-series order to “9-1-1: Nashville,” a spinoff of “9-1-1” that will star Chris O’Donnell.

These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from the real lives of first responders who regularly face situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time.
