If CBS, Paramount+ and Pluto TV weren’t enough options to grab potential viewers into watching the brand new daytime drama series “Beyond the Gates,” cable network BET is set to carry at least the first 10 episodes of the soap opera beginning Monday, March 10.
The batch of episodes will air Monday through Friday in primetime at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, two weeks after the show’s original CBS broadcasts, starting with the premiere episode (February 24, 2025). Additionally, an omnibus (marathon/binge) of sorts will be provided on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Encores of the first two episodes are set to air on Saturday, March 15, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. ET/PT, followed by encores of the third, fourth and fifth episodes, airing on Sunday, March 16, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The following weekend will see a similar schedule with episodes six and seven airing on Saturday, March 22, although from 3:00-5:00 p.m. ET/PT. this time, followed by episodes eight, nine and ten airing on Sunday, March 23, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The news follows our report last week that Paramount Global, parent of CBS and BET, had added the series to Pluto TV, its FAST (free ad-supported television) service, with future episodes dropping after a one-week delay from their original CBS broadcasts. The platform carries just four episodes at a time, with episodes falling off the service after another gets added.
As for BET, which stands for Black Entertainment Television, the network is the perfect home for encore broadcasts of “Beyond the Gates” as CBS announced last week that 55% of the new show’s audience is Black, making it the most engaged daytime soap opera among the key demographic. “The Bold and the Beautiful” was in second place with 30%, followed by “The Young and the Restless” with 29% and “General Hospital” with just 22%, with the latter series competing directly against “Beyond the Gates” head-to-head in the bulk of U.S. television markets.
In Live+3 ratings, ”Beyond the Gates” averaged 2.28 million viewers during its first week on the air (week of February 24-28, 2025), up +78% over the year ago performance of “The Talk.” In fact, among Live+3 streaming, “Beyond the Gates” increased +7411% over the streaming-only AMA performance of “The Talk.” The new soap also topped “General Hospital” among Total Viewers after three days of delayed viewing (2.28 million vs. 2.02 million), while handily winning its time slot among Women 18-49, Women 25-54 and Adults 25-54 rating, the key sales demographics used to sell advertising for daytime television programming.
The premiere episode of “Beyond the Gates” (February 24, 2025) averaged 3.0 million viewers when factoring in Live+7 viewership, beating the July 5, 1999 debut episode of NBC’s “Passions,” which averaged 2.96 million in an era of less viewing competition.
With its 9 share among Households, “Beyond the Gates” also beat out the 7 share received by “Passions,” meaning a larger portion of people viewing television watched the premiere of “Beyond the Gates” than the premiere of “Passions.”
In addition to BET, Pluto TV, the CBS Television Network and Paramount+, viewers can also watch “Beyond the Gates” on the CBS TVE services, which includes CBS.com and the CBS App.
Set in Fairmont Crest, a fictitious Maryland suburb just outside of Washington D.C., “Beyond the Gates” follows the story of the haves and the have nots living in and around one the most affluent African American counties in the United States where viewers find themselves immersed into the world of a posh gated community filled with winding tree-lined streets and luxurious mansions that the wealthy call home.
Behind the pristine walls and lush, manicured gardens are juicy secrets and scandals waiting to be uncovered. As for those living outside the gates, they are indeed watching closely. For every person who has “made it,” there are always those who have not. Follow the characters as they live, love, work, and play, all while trying to navigate life, some more gracefully than others.
Developed and produced by the CBS Studios/NAACP Venture, led by Sheila Ducksworth, in partnership with P&G Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble, “Beyond the Gates” marks the first-ever one-hour Black daytime soap and the first daytime drama to premiere since “Passions” in 1999.
Created by veteran soap writer Michele Val Jean, who also serves as showrunner, executive producer and head writer, the “Beyond the Gates” producing team also includes executive producers Sheila Ducksworth, president of the CBS/NAACP Venture, Robert Guza Jr. (“General Hospital,” “Sunset Beach”), Julie Carruthers (“All My Children,” “Port Charles”), Leon Russell, Derrick Johnson, Kimberly Doebereiner and Anna Saalfeld.
The series stars stars (in alphabetical order) Alex Alegria, Lauren Buglioli, Brandon Claybon, Clifton Davis, Daphnée Duplaix, Timon Kyle Durrett, Sean Freeman, Ben Gavin, Marquita Goings, Jibre Hordges, Jen Jacob, Maurice Johnson, Trisha Mann-Grant, Mike Manning, RhonniRose Mantilla, Ambyr Michelle, Karla Mosley, Colby Muhammad, Arielle Prepetit and Tamara Tunie.
News of the decision to air “Beyond the Gates” on BET was first revealed via updated cable guide listings and the official TV schedule shown on the network’s website.
