On Wednesday, the Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) and Writers Guild of America East (WGAE) announced nominations for achievement in screenwriting, television, streaming, news, radio/audio, and promotional writing during the calendar year 2024 for “The 2025 Annual Writers Guild Awards,” taking place on Saturday, February 15 at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles and the Edison Ballroom in New York City.
Nominated in the category of Daytime Drama this year are “Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless.” As has been the case for several years, “The Bold and the Beautiful” did not submit itself for contention.
Representing “Days of our Lives” is head writer Ron Carlivati with writers Sonja Alarr, Kirk Doering, Christopher Dunn, Jamey Giddens, David Kreizman, Henry Newman, Ryan Quan, Dave Ryan and Katherine D. Schock.

Leading things at “General Hospital” are head writers Elizabeth Korte and Chris Van Etten with writers Nigel Campbell, Ashley Cook, Emily Culliton, Suzanne Flynn, Charlotte Gibson, Lucky Gold, Kate Hall, Catherine LePard, Patrick Mulcahey, Dan O’Connor, Shannon Peace, Stacey Pulwer, Anne Schoettle, Scott Sickles and Micah Steinberg.
Returning as a nominee this year, “The Young and the Restless” is represented by head writer Amanda L. Beall with writers Susan Banks, Jeff Beldner, Marin Gazzaniga, Lindsay Harrison, Marla Kanelos, Rebecca McCarty, Madeleine Phillips and Dave Ryan.
Note: Due to his going fi-core status during the infamous 2007/2008 writers strike, Josh Griffith, head writer and executive producer of “The Young and the Restless,” is ineligible (see story) for a WGA nomination.
