THE NUMBERS

Returning to originals after a week of repeats, “The View” hit a new season low among Total Viewers during the week of April 29-May 3, 2024 with just 2.161 million viewers tuning in. Additionally, all-new episodes of the talk show tied its week ago repeat* performance in both unrounded Women 18-49 (0.15 rating) and unrounded Women 25-54 (0.25 rating), marking what appears to be series lows in both categories for original episodes. On the bright side, the show gained +673,000 viewers* compared to its week ago repeat-filled performance.

Meanwhile, for the third week in a row, “General Hospital” was below the two million viewer mark. The ABC soap averaged just 1.889 million viewers for the week, marking a new season low in the category and the ninth time overall this season the show has fallen below two million viewers. Among unrounded Women 18-49, “General Hospital” averaged a 0.20 rating, up +0.02 from its performance a week ago. In rounded Women 18-49, the show’s 0.2 rating ties its series low for the eighth straight week in the key women sales demographic.

With CBS’ continued coverage of UEFA Champions League games on Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1, most of the CBS lineup was either preempted, amended or broken out on both days. As a result, the weekly averages for “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.033 million / 2.372 million) and “The Talk” (1.242 million) are based on three days (Monday, Thursday and Friday). “The Price is Right” (3.569 million / 4.159 million) and “The Young and the Restless” (2.992 million) saw the sharpest declines week-to-week.

Note*: Due to President Biden’s remarks on college campus protests, “The View,” “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” were amended on Thursday, May 2. Therefore, each show’s weekly average is based on four days (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). “The View” aired repeats during the week of April 22-26, 2024.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of April 29-May 3, 2024 in Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their performance during the comparable week last year.
