With Thanksgiving in the mix, most daytime broadcast shows were coded as specialed or were preempted altogether on Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24. As a result, the weekly averages for the bulk of daytime shows are based on just three days (Monday through Wednesday).

NBC’s broadcast of the “National Dog Show” was the most-watched daytime broadcast program for the week, excluding NBC’s airing of “The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade” (22.0 million). The 11.5 million viewers said to have watched the dog show include both the NBC and Peacock broadcasts*, which was an improvement of +300,000 viewers over the same week last year and +140,000 viewers compared to the program’s performance in 2021.

Several regularly scheduled daytime broadcast shows hit new season highs this week, including “The Price is Right” (3.968 million / 4.640 million), “The Young and the Restless” (3.463 million), “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.888 million), “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.297 million / 2.705 million), “General Hospital” (2.089 million), “TODAY 3rd Hour” (2.208 million), “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” (1.703 million) and “NBC News Daily” (1.395 million).

“The Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital” marked their best performances among Total Viewers since the week of June 26-30, 2023.

In the all-important sales demographics, “The Young and the Restless” hit new season highs in unrounded Women 18-49 (0.39 rating) and unrounded Women 25-54 (0.57 rating). Among Total Viewers, the soap added another +120,000 people over its performance one week earlier and an even more impressive +380,000 viewers compared to the same week in 2020. This marks the second week in a row in which the series has added viewers over the prior week for a combined +288,000 viewer increase compared to the week of November 6-10, 2023.

“The Bold and the Beautiful” added +26,000 viewers over the week ago period and an astounding +350,000 viewers compared to the same week three years earlier. Along with “The Young and the Restless,” the CBS soaps were the only daytime broadcast shows to see improvement over 2020 among Total Viewers.

“NBC News Daily” saw the largest week-to-week uptick among Total Viewers (+345,000), marking a new season high for the news hour. The show also saw significant gains over its performance during the same week last year, adding +195,000 viewers to become the show’s best performance among Total Viewers since at least the week of September 26-30, 2022, per ratings records available to Soap Opera Network.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of November 20-24, 2023 in Women 18-49 Rating, Women 25-54 Rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2022, 2021 and 2020, respectively. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly.
