Farah Galfond, known professionally as Farah Fath from her time working on “Days of our Lives” as Mimi Lockhart and “One Life to Live” as Gigi Morasco, is opening up for the first time about her experience working under the direction of Albert Alarr, the producer/director who is currently embroiled in controversy stemming from his continued oversight of production at “Days of our Lives” despite misconduct allegations.

Last month, it was revealed that a misconduct investigation against Alarr had concluded with the co-executive producer/director only receiving a written warning and being asked to undergo training. The outcome of the investigation, much of which has reportedly still not been fully explained to the cast and crew of the Corday Productions-produced series, led more than 25 cast members to sign a petition requesting Alarr’s dismissal and that he be replaced with someone who they can respect and trust. 

Calling the decision to keep Alarr in his positions of power “traumatic and disheartening,” the group’s petition, which was first shared by Deadline, says, “As a result of said actions of the current [co-] executive producer Albert Alarr, mentioned in the report, many of us feel — and will continue to feel — very uncomfortable and distraught should he stay involved with the show.” Further, “Many of us have either been physically or verbally violated by him, including witnessing those objectionable and offensive actions.”

While Galfond is no longer a cast member of the series, with her last appearance in 2018, she would like to add her name to the petition, if only through virtual means. In a thread published on Twitter late Wednesday, she said, “I’m not on the cast anymore but I would love to sign the petition in spirit.” Referencing the allegations brought against Alarr and referring to her exiting “Days of our Lives” in 2007 to join “One Life to Live,” she adds, “These were my experiences too. It wasn’t until I switched shows that I realized not every set was like that.”

Recalling her experience working with Alarr in scenes that would have aired in 2003, which is when Alarr had just joined “Days of our Lives” as a director, Galfond stated, “I had the particular misfortune of having Alarr direct my first ever ‘love’ scene when I was 19. He was new so I was already nervous not having one of the other directors that I was used to. I was extremely modest and freaked out to be standing in my underwear in front of dozens of crew (aka men that had known me since I was 15…ew) and did Albert do or say one little thing to make me feel remotely at ease?  Absolutely not. He pushed and pushed and pushed and pushed me on a particular issue, and was annoyed when I stood my ground.”

“[Twenty years later] and I still feel sad about that day yet happy I set a boundary. But MAN would it have been nice to have a WOMAN direct that scene and make sure I felt protected instead of exposed,” Galfond pointed out. “It’s been hard for me to read the news. I guess I’m shocked he learned nothing after the me too movement. Or by …hello??  The cast & crew’s appalled reactions to him on daily basis??”

“I’m sorry to my former coworkers who’ve been dealing with this relentlessly for decades now. Proud of those who are finding their voice now.  His time is up. Nice work,” said Galfond, concluding her thread with a “red heart” and “folded hands” emoji, a display of love and prayers for her former colleagues.

In response to Galfond’s thread, former co-star and current “Days of our Lives” cast member Arianne Zucker (Nicole Walker) said, “Thank you Farah! Your words matter. Knowing you are not alone may not only start to ease what you and many others have gone through, but saying something is everything. Love you always! #Womentakingourpowerback MOVEMENT.”

In addition to his directing work, in 2011, Alarr was made a producer at “Days of our Lives.” By 2015, he had acquired the title of co-executive producer, working alongside fellow co-executive producer Greg Meng. Following Meng’s exit in 2020, Alarr became the show’s sole co-executive producer working under executive producer Ken Corday, who also owns and produces the soap opera through his family-owned company, Corday Productions, Inc. Sony Pictures Television distributes the series.

Galfond briefly returned to “Days of our Lives” in 2018, once again reprising the role of Mimi Lockhart. Outside of daytime, Galfond’s credits include a minor role in an episode of “American Dreams” and appearing in two TV movies, one of which starred former “Days of our Lives” co-star Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami Brady) – “Murder, She Baked: A Plum Pudding Mystery.”
