As first reported by Soap Opera Network last week, ABC has established the “General Hospital” Spotlight Channel which gives fans of the daytime drama series a chance to relive some of their favorite storylines via the free, ad-supported television (FAST) service which sees episodes aired “LIVE” 24/7, similar to a marathon*.
In celebration of the channel’s launch, ABC has published a brand new promo across the show’s social media explaining everything fans need to know as stated in voiceover form by stars Laura Wright and Maurice Benard, who play Sonny Corinthos and Carly Spencer, respectively, on the series.
“It’s the best of Port Charles,” begins Wright in the promo. “Watch full episodes of ‘General Hospital’ on the all-new ‘General Hospital’ Spotlight Channel, only on ABC.com and the ABC App. So, come with me, Laura Wright…,” she says before pausing. “And me, Maurice Benard. Relive your favorite storylines over and over beginning with Sonny and Mike’s Alzheimer’s saga,” Benard states as he takes over voiceover work. He returns it to Wright, who adds, “All the drama. All the emotion. All right here.” Benard closes the promo, saying, “Watch anytime, anywhere with no sign-in needed. Visit ABC.com/GHspotlight or the ABC App and watch free now.”
As noted by Benard in the promo, episodes start with Mike Corbin’s (played by Max Gail) Alzheimer’s storyline which sees his family providing their love and support through every step.
At press time, episodes were running roughly 50 minutes in total duration, including regular commercial breaks, with a loop of episodes starting with the February 5, 2018 episode and concluding with the April 27, 2018 episode before resetting. Additional episodes are expected to be added once the channel exits the soft launch phase later this month with fans getting to watch more of the Alzheimer’s story arc.
