THE NUMBERS

During the week of October 10-14, 2022, NBC’s “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” (1.637 million) topped both “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.445 million) and “The Talk” (1.443 million) for the first time in quite some time. In fact, the long running program attracted its largest overall audience in at least seven months (since the week of February 28-March 4, 2022), according to current ratings records obtained by Soap Opera Network. Additionally, the daily chat/news hybrid and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (3.044 million) were the only daytime broadcast shows to see increases in Total Viewers compared to the same week last year.
Compared to the same week in 2020, “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” was up +240,000 viewers while “The Bold and the Beautiful” was up +270,000. And speaking of the half-hour scripted series, the show, along with “The Young and the Restless” (3.432 million) and “The Talk,” posted its best Total Viewer numbers since the week of July 25-29, 2022. “The Young and the Restless” was up +340,000 viewers over its performance during the same week in 2020, the biggest gain over 2020 of any daytime broadcast series.
As it did last week, “The Price is Right” (3.810 million / 4.353 million) again posted its best Total Viewer numbers since the week of August 8-12, 2022. Meanwhile, the first half-hour of “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.264 million) posted its best numbers in two weeks (since the week of September 26-30, 2022). The second half-hour averaged 2.631 million viewers for the week.
After losing viewers during its fourth week on the air last week, “NBC News Daily” (1.114 million) was on the plus side this week, adding +45,000 viewers week-to-week. The gap widened, however, between the news show and CBS’ competing “The Talk” after the chat fest added +86,000 viewers to its total over the prior week. The gap is now +329,000 in favor of “The Talk.”
“GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.445 million) was not only down the most week-to-week, down -101,000 viewers, but the news program was also down compared to the same week last year (-103,000 viewers) and the comparable week in 2020 (-93,000). “The View” (2.207 million) was similarly down across the board. Demographically, the ABC chatfest was flat week-to-week in both Women 18-49 (0.3 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.4 rating), tying for fifth place in W18-49 rating and ninth place in W25-54 rating.
What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of October 10-14, 2022 in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2021 and 2020, respectively. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance in the demos, will be posted on Thursday.
