REPORT: Decision on the Futures of ‘The Doctors’ and ‘DailyMailTV’ Being Discussed

CBS is reportedly mulling a decision on the future of "The Doctors" while the future of "DailyMailTV" is also being discussed by DailyMail executives behind the scenes. Here's what you need to know.

UPDATE: On the same day CBS Media Ventures announced the renewal of “The Drew Barrymore Show” for a third season, the syndication arm of Paramount Global is reportedly mulling a decision on the future of “The Doctors” which has been a syndication staple since its debut 14 seasons ago. Meanwhile, sources tell Soap Opera Network that despite an earlier report by Deadline, the future of “DailyMailTV” will not be decided by CMV which distributes the show nationally. In fact, neither series has been officially canceled.

In its updated report, Deadline notes that executives at “DailyMailTV” are in the midst of deciding whether to continue with the show for a sixth season. Hosted by Thomas Roberts with Alicia Quarles serving as Senior News Correspondent, the daily syndicated newsmagazine from Stage 29 Productions brings the best of the world’s most popular newspaper website, DailyMail.com to life on television with exclusive stories to breaking news, showbiz, crime, health, science and technology. The series launched in 2017 and at the time was the highest-rated national debut of any syndicated newsmagazine since 2007. The show won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment News Program in 2019.

“The Doctors” premiered in 2008 and is hosted by board-certified plastic surgeon and series veteran Dr. Andrew Ordon. The hour-long syndicated program returned to the studio this season with the theme “A Prescription For A Better You,” designed to inspire and empower viewers to take control of their health and wellness. The show won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show/Informative in 2010, receiving six additional nominations in the category. Also from Stage 29 Productions, the show is distributed by CMV with Jay McGraw, Carla Pennington, Patricia Ciano and Dr. Phillip C. McGraw serving as executive producers. Both McGraw’s and Pennington also serve as EPs on “The Doctors,” among a host of others.

During the week of March 14-18, 2022, the most week recent in which syndication ratings are available, “The Doctors” averaged a mere 0.2 household rating, ranking last among all daytime talk shows (out of 15 shows) while “DailyMailTV” averaged a 0.5 household rating among magazine shows. Of the seven shows, “DailyMailTV” only outranks “Dish Nation” in households.

In recent weeks, syndication has seen the cancellations of “The Nick Cannon Show,” “The Good Dish,” “Maury” and “Judge Jerry.” Rumored to also be exiting the market is “The Real” from Warner Bros. Domestic Television.
