After keeping her real-life pregnancy a secret until after her “General Hospital” character revealed her pregnancy on-air in June, actress Sofia Mattsson (Sasha Gilmore) recently shared that she’s been keeping another secret for several weeks: the birth of her first child, a boy, with actor/writer/producer husband Thomas Payton.

“Happiest 4 weeks ever with this little guy!” Mattsson said on Instagram yesterday along with a photo of herself holding her son. “He joined us on 7/26/21 and stole my heart completely!!” No additional details on the birth, including the child’s name, were released at press time.

One day before giving birth, Mattsson commented, “Can’t wait to meet my little man,” which turned out to have been a teaser of what was to come.

On June 13, Mattsson announced her pregnancy for the first time. “BIG things happening!! So happy and excited to finally share this (almost ready to pop) bump with everyone!!” she said on Instagram. “Kept it a secret for a while to not spoil anything for ‘GH’ viewers, but now that miss Sasha Gilmore’s pregnancy is in full force I can finally share that I’m so grateful to be sharing this pregnancy journey with her!”

With her pregnancy written into the show, “GH” fans are waiting in anticipation for the birth of Sasha’s baby with Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor). It’s unclear when the child will be birthed on screen as there’s no word yet on whether Mattsson has returned to taping at the Prospect Studios where the soap opera is recorded.
