THE NUMBERS

For the week of April 19-23, 2021, “The Price is Right 2” and “The Price is Right 1” roared back to the top two spots in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, each growing substantially from the week ago in both categories. Last week’s demo leader, “The Young and the Restless,” fell to fourth place in W18-49 and third place in W25-54, respectively.

Just a few points below its sister soap, “The Bold and the Beautiful” moved up a spot to place fourth in W25-54 (0.60, -0.01). It leaped over “Today 3rd Hour” which fell to fifth place this week after ranking third last week. In W18-49, however, the two programs stayed in the same spots from the prior week — “Today 3rd Hour” in third, “B&B” in sixth place.

Days of our Lives” saw a small bump week-to-week in W25-54 (0.41, +0.01) but went down a smidge in W18-49 (0.26, -0.01). The soap placed 12th in both categories for the first time in the four weeks since we made adjustments to our reporting format.

“The View” was flat week-to-week in W18-49, garnering the same 0.39 demo rating it had from the prior week. The show was down a few points in W25-54.

General Hospital” was down week-to-week in both demos. The soap fell to ninth place in W18-49 (tied with “Let’s Make a Deal 1”), ranking behind “Today with Hoda & Jenna” which placed eighth and “Let’s Make a Deal 2” which tied with “B&B” for sixth place. Last week, “GH” ranked seventh in the demo.

“The Talk” continued to rank last in both demographics, down week-to-week in W18-49 (0.21, -0.02) and W25-54 (0.34, -0.01). The CBS chatfest has ranked last in both categories, including total viewers, for the entire 2020-2021 broadcast television season thus far.

What follows is a rundown of how the daytime shows performed during the week of April 19-23, 2021 in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, the primary sales demos that determine advertising rates for daytime television programming.

*Notable Preemptions/Schedule Changes

  • All daytime broadcast programs were preempted on Monday, April 19 due to news coverage on ABC, CBS and NBC of closing arguments in the George Floyd murder trial, wherein former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was later found guilty on all charges brought against him on Tuesday, April 20.
  • “Days of our Lives” aired for just 25 minutes on Tuesday, April 20.
  • “The Talk” aired for just 33 minutes on Tuesday, April 20. It was interrupted due to the aforementioned Chauvin verdict.
  • “Today 3rd Hour” aired for 50 minutes on Tuesday, April 20 and 51 minutes on Wednesday, April 21 and Friday, April 23. It aired for just 52 minutes on Thursday, April 22.
  • “Today with Hoda & Jenna” aired for just 49 minutes on Tuesday, April 20, and 48 minutes on Wednesday, April 21 and Friday April 23. On Thursday, April 22, the show aired for just 44 minutes.
