Fans tuning into the Monday, November 16 episode of “General Hospital” were in for a surprise when they saw Lucas Jones pop back into Port Charles with a new face. “Chicago Fire” actor Matt Trudeau assumed the role previously portrayed by Ryan Carnes.

Although the show has no comment on why the change in actors, Daytime Confidential is reporting that Trudeau’s hiring is more than just a temporary change. “We hear this isn’t a temporary recast situation like recent ‘GH’ castings,” the site said.

Carnes portrayed the character on a recurring basis from 2004-2005, leaving for a stint on “Desperate Housewives.” He returned to the soap in 2014, remaining a recurring player on the show until this year.

Earlier this month, Trudeau shared a post on Instagram, saying, “Thankful to be sharing new projects coming soon!”

It was unclear at press time whether Trudeau would appear on a recurring basis or would soon be a contract player. Stay tuned for updates.
