On Friday, February 7, viewers of CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” will get to see actress Camryn Grimes (Mariah Copeland) reprising her original role of Cassie Newman when the character returns for a surprise visit with her mother as Sharon (Sharon Case) faces her biggest fears.
“She truly believes that Cassie has somehow come at a time that Sharon could really use a visit from her daughter,” says Case of Cassie’s visit in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands now.
In the episode, Sharon is facing her fears, cooking up a storm trying to hold some semblance of normalcy while dealing with the potential aftereffects of what chemotherapy may bring. As you’ll recall, Sharon was diagnosed with breast cancer last month
“THIS is what I was excited about and couldn’t say!” said Grimes of her reprisal.
Grimes originated the role of Cassie in 1997. In 2005, the character died after being involved in a horrific car wreck in which she was discovered to have been the driver. Cassie was just fourteen at the time and was unlicensed. She was driving an intoxicated Daniel Romalotti home. Grimes returned to “Y&R” in 2014 to take on the role of Mariah Copeland, the secret twin sister of Cassie’s that Sharon didn’t even know about.
