ABC is preparing to tackle the fashion world in an iconic way.
Deadline is reporting that the network has given a pilot order to “Model Woman,” a soapy period inspired by the Robert Lacey book Model Woman: Eileen Ford and the Business of Beauty, which chronicled the often outspoken and controversial Eileen Ford who started her career as a model before co-founding the world renowned Ford Modeling Agency with her husband, Jerry.
The potential series will be set in the late 1970s during the heightened Model Wars. It’ll focus on the character of Bertie Geiss, “a tempestuous matriarch and uncompromising businesswoman at the helm of an internationally renowned modeling agency.”
“Model Woman” is written by Helen Childress (“Reality Bites”). Rosalie Swedlin serves as executive producer alongside Lacey’s daughter, Scarlett.
