While fans of NBC’s “Days of our Lives” will soon be getting a chance to once again see Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) back on their screens in the coming year, it looks like they’ll also be saying goodbye to another beloved character. Actor Greg Vaughan, who has portrayed Eric Brady on the soap since November 2012, will reportedly be exiting the canvas after it was decided to write the character out of Salem.

Although it was speculated that Vaughan’s contract extension this past summer was keyword for renewing his contract, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

According to Serial Scoop, which first reported the news citing an upcoming interview with the actor, the actor extended his current contract with the series, which was reported this past summer, only to help the character be properly written out.

There’s no word yet on when fans will last see the character on “DAYS,” nor what’s next for Vaughan after successfully portraying characters on “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless.”
