Alyssa has been joined by her family. We ask that you respect Alyssa and her family’s privacy during this time.”
3RD UPDATE 7:15 AM ET 10/8/2014: Per Entertainment Tonight Canada, the official police report states, “A 2009 Mazda 6 was traveling westbound on State Route 84. The Mazda failed to safely negotiate a left curve and lost control. It crossed the centerline, traveled the left side of the road and struck a culvert. This impact caused the car to overturn end over end. The vehicle came to final rest and the passenger was temporarily trapped inside.”
2ND UPDATE 7:30 PM ET: “Just got a text message from @freddiemsmith and he’s doing ok. @AlyssaTabit has just come out of a successful surgery. Good news all around,” shared Guy Wilson on Twitter a short time ago.
UPDATE 5:25 PM ET: “DAYS'” Molly Burnett (Melanie) posted the following message on her Facebook page, which was shared by Smith’s co-star Guy Wilson (Will Horton) on Twitter.
INITIAL REPORT 4:43 PM ET 10/7/14: “Days of our Lives” star Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis) was taken to the hospital earlier this morning after the star reportedly lost control of his car in Kingsville Township, Ohio. His passenger, Alyssa Tabit of North Hollywood, was seriously injured in the crash and is in critical condition, says Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The automobile accident happened early this morning on Route 84, reports Star Beacon. Following the accident, Smith was taken to Conneaut Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, while Tabit was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, where she’s reportedly fighting for her life.
Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently suspecting speed and alcohol as factors leading to the accident. Soap Opera Network will bring you more as this story develops.
