Featuring the long-awaited return of Shemar Moore as Malcolm Winters, CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” posted its largest weekly audience and best Women 18-49 rating since March, per Nielsen Media Research ratings data. Did Moore help boost the soap?

For the week of September 8-12, 2014, “Y&R” averaged 4,702,000 million viewers (+3% from the prior week), a 1.3/9 in Women 18-49 (+8%) and a 2.0/13 in Women 25-54 (+5%), which was the best viewer and Women 18-49 deliveries for the soap since the week ending March 24-28, 2014. On the days featuring Moore (Wednesday, September 10 and Thursday, September 11), “Y&R” averaged 4,690,000 viewers, although the former posted the better of the two with 4,824,000 tuning in for Moore’s first episode back on the soap in nearly 10 years. Ironically, neither episode featuring Moore posted the week’s best results in viewers. That honor went to the Monday, September 8 episode, which averaged 4,843,000 viewers. On that day Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) dominated the mind of Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) just as Phyllis was showing early signs of coming out of her coma.

In case you have yet to take part, how would you rate Shemar Moore’s recent return visit to “Y&R”?
