When Soap Opera Network caught up with Atkinson earlier this year, the actor shared that Summer is the shining light in Austin’s life and that she brings out the good in him. “She kind of fights for him, and she’s the one person in his life that he knows is there.” He’ll likely soon have to return the favor when Summer’s mother, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni), returns to town just as the big secret about Summer’s paternity is set to finally come out.
