SOAPnet Changes Plans in ’07

SOAPnet, the new way to watch soaps, is changing some elements of its lineup beginning in 2007.

Starting with the addition of the ABC Family Original Series “Falcon Beach,” SOAPnet has changed the weekend marathon schedule for ABC’s “General Hospital,” has added more airings of “Beverly Hills, 90210” and has altered the slots for “Port Charles,” “Another World” and “Dallas.”

Due to the New Year’s day preemptions on ABC and CBS, “All My Children,” “General Hospital,” “One Life To Live” and “The Young and the Restless” will not air a new episode on January 1. Instead, SOAPnet will re-air the December 29 episodes of each respective drama series. The weekend marathons will have the Friday re-airings take place of the regularly scheduled Monday editions.

Beginning Tuesday, January 2, “Port Charles” will begin airing double-episodes from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, ET. “Another World” has been moved up to 1:00 PM, and a “Dallas” double-pump begins at 2:00 PM. “Melrose Place” and a double-dose of “Beverly Hills, 90210” begins at 4:00 PM.

Effective Sunday, January 7, “General Hospital” moves its Sunday afternoon marathon from 2PM – 7PM to 12PM – 5 PM. The move allows the cable network to air two additional episodes of “90210” from 5PM – 7PM.

“Falcon Beach,” which debuts on Saturday, January 6 at 11AM, will air repeat episodes Sunday nights at 12 midnight.

NBC Takes Attention Off of ABC Upfront With Clever Advertising Platform

Long before ABC's Upfront presentation got underway at around 3:45 PM on Tuesday, May 17, when invited guests began scuttling into the Avery Fisher Hall, the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) looked to take attention off of the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) by promoting its new fall programming with a rotation of more than a dozen Grayline and CitySearch NYC buses that were filled with wide open spaces or a lack of passengers in this case. While the seats may have been empty, no one could miss the colorful brand making its presence known while its competitor seeks a piece of the $9.2 billion pie during a crucial television season that lies ahead for the Disney/ABC Television Group. Insert the NBC peacock now featured on billboards in newly stylized glossy graphics.
