With “The Young and the Restless” gearing up for the unveiling of Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) new fashion line, Chelsea Lawson for Jabot, and the subsequent battleground between the fashionista and Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), as well as Lily (Christel Khalil) and Hilary (Mishael Morgan), it would only make sense for the series to use the storyline as a crossover opportunity with sister soap “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
With soap operas having been on the air since “Guiding Light’s” television debut in 1952, one would think the world would know by now that soap operas aren’t the cheesy programs they’re often made out to be. But for some reason, the four remaining soaps on air — “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “The Young and the Restless,” “Days of our Lives,” and “General Hospital” — continue to be stereotyped, as do the slew of former soaps that used to exist and the actors who have or currently are appearing on them.
Soap Opera Network recently attended an event at The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and in addition to discussing daytime’s recent resurgence (read that SON article here), experts like Robert Ulrich (casting director of “Glee,” “American Horror Story,” “The Mentalist” and more) and Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer, “GH”) discussed why soap operas have such strong associations with cheesiness and how these stereotypes affect the actors. Read on to see what they had to say!
Real life brother and sister duo Heather Tom (Katie Logan, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) and David Tom (Billy Abbott, “The Young and the Restless”) appeared on yesterday’s episode “The Talk,” and if you missed the exciting clip, you’re in luck!
CBS has released a video of the siblings’ appearance with hosts Sara Gilbert, Sheryl Underwood, Aisha Tyler, Sharon Osbourne and Julie Chen. Watch below to view the actors chatting about everything from how they got their start to how their soap alter egos will survive their latest onscreen drama.
With an impressive seven out of the 10 daytime stars nominated for an NAACP Image Award, CBS is celebrating its network diversity with a special episode of “The Insider!”
Host Kevin Frazier is sitting down for an exclusive roundtable discussion with “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” nominees Aaron D. Spears (Justin Barber), Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter Walton) and Karla Mosley (Maya Avant), as well as “The Young and the Restless’” nominees Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters), Redaric Williams (Tyler Michaelson), Angell Conwell (Leslie Michaelson) and Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) to discuss diversity in entertainment.
Cupid may be fluttering around shooting love arrows left and right, but it seems he hasn’t been able to successfully connect “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” Katie (Heather Tom) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) — at least, not yet! But does Katie even truly care for Ridge? Or is her attraction based out of revenge toward her sister, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), who swooped in and dated her former hubby, Bill (Don Diamont)? And what about the Logan sister’s relationship: Will they ever be as close as they once were, or have these recent matters of the heart permanently decimated their sibling bond? Read on to find out!
Soap siblings Heather Tom (Katie Logan, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) and David Tom (Billy Abbott, “The Young and the Restless”) not only share a family, career paths and a last name, they’re also sharing the stage at CBS’ popular daytime program, “The Talk!”
The real-life brother and sister duo will be joining hosts Sara Gilbert, Sheryl Underwood, Aisha Tyler, Sharon Osbourne and Julie Chen to chat about their characters’ insane love lives — and you can bet that the ladies will get the scoop on whether or not Katie will allow Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) to successfully make it down the aisle, and how Victoria (Amelia Heinle) will react when she finally finds out that Billy slept with Kelly (Cynthia Watros)!
To catch all of the fun, be sure to tune into CBS’ “The Talk” today, February 17 at 2:00 PM ET or 1:00 PT/CT.

Beginning Monday, February 17, however, the network announced today that it will start airing same day episodes of the world’s most watched daytime drama series.
“B&B” will continue airing weeknights at 6:30 PM, ET/PT preceding the network’s encore airings of CBS’ “The Young and the Restless,” which airs at 7:00 PM, ET/PT.
Love in the afternoon is about to take a provocative turn with “The Bold and the Beautiful’s” latest storyline twist for Bill (Don Diamont): He’ll be taking part in some risqué mattress mambos — complete with whips and delight — with none other than the town’s psychotic villainess, Quinn Fuller (Rena Sofer)!
“We’re not cable, but we certainly take it as far as we can — and I don’t think there’s ever been anything like it in daytime,” teases Diamont to TV Guide, who first reported the news of the sexy, S&M story that kicks off Friday, February 21.
While the rest of the world enjoys hearts and chocolates and flowers for Valentine’s Day, the characters on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” will be getting a huge dose of Lovers’ Day drama!
Friday, February 14 will be filled with heartbreak on “B&B” as Liam (Scott Clifton) refuses to give up on Hope (Kim Matula) — even though she’s enjoying her very first Valentine’s Day with new lover Wyatt (Darin Brooks)! Meanwhile, certain Los Angeles residents don’t how to feel about Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge’s (Thorsten Kaye) plans to get married, with Bill (Don Diamont) going so far as to try and woo Brooke back!
