The Bold and the Beautiful

POP’s “Queens of Drama” is rolling out the red carpet and delivering exactly what the show’s title implies: In addition to the list of popular soap stars already attached to the reality show, “Dynasty” legend Joan Collins will also be a part of the new show!
As previously reported, soap stars Lindsay Hartley (“All My Children,” “Days of Our Lives,” “Passions“), Crystal Hunt (“Guiding Light,” “One Life to Live”), Vanessa Marcil (“Beverly Hills, 90210,” “General Hospital”), Chrystee Pharris (“Passions,” “General Hospital”) and Hunter Tylo (“The Bold and The Beautiful”) have signed on for POP's newest reality series, "Queens of Drama," where the ladies will work together to produce a pilot for a new serialized primetime drama series. As the poster above warns, today, October 28, marks the beginning of production for show. Donna Mills (“General Hospital,” “Knots Landing,” “Melrose Place”) will also be taking part with special appearances.
With the recent news that “The Bold and the Beautiful” is on an upswing regarding ratings, fans have had their fingers crossed that more good news would follow — including a possible return by beloved beauty Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (ex-Steffy Forrester). In response to the buzz, the actress took to Facebook to set the record straight concerning whether or not she’ll be back to stir up more trouble for Liam (Scott Clifton), Hope (Kim Matula) and the rest of the Forrester clan.

Despite recent bouts of ratings growth in Total Viewers, Women 18-49, Women 25-54 and other assorted demographics, CBS' "The Young and the Restless" is the subject of a recent report in the October 31 edition of The Hollywood Reporter magazine, which includes interviews with Angelica McDaniel, CBS Daytime senior vice president, and Brad Adgate, senior vp research for Horizon Media, among others. The magazine noted that following Nielsen's admission of a counting error that lasted for more than six months (since at least March of this year), revised numbers show the daytime drama series doing better than previously thought when on October 20 Nielsen released revised ratings data for daytime television. In it, "Y&R" and sister soap "The Bold and the Beautiful" are showing growth, while ABC's "General Hospital" is actually in decline, down 8% in viewers and down 14 percent in the Women 25-54 sales demographic.

Ratings Report for the Week of October 6-10, 2014
As previously reported, everyone loves CBS' "The Young and the Restless" and the year-to-year growth in Total Viewers, Women 25-54 and Women 18-49 during the week of October 6-10, 2014 continues to prove that point. In addition to "Y&R," CBS is experiencing overall growth with "The Bold and the Beautiful," "The Price is Right," "Let's Make a Deal" and "The Talk." In the case of "B&B," the soap is seeing plenty of women enjoying the storyline surrounding Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and Caroline Spencer Forrester (Linsey Godfrey) along with the happenings of Hope Logan (Kim Matula) following the recent revelation that she's with child after a recent romp with one of the Spencer brothers. The soap is up 23% in Women 25-54 and 38% in Women 18-49 compared to the same week last year.

Each Monday, we plan to publish our weekly Daytime Ratings Report, which covers the broadcast soaps, game shows and talk shows. Unfortunately, due to an arm injury I sustained last Thursday, my typing skills have been put to the test and the report was delayed. Alas, I'm feeling a lot less pain than I did for much of the past week so here now is the daytime ratings report for the week of September 29-October 3, 2014. Better late than never, right? This week we highlight how the broadcast shows ranked overall in Total Viewers, Men 18+, Adults 18-49 and Median Age.
On Thursday, September 25, Soap Opera Network reported that CBS completed its 28th year as the most watched network in daytime with its highly ranked lineup consisting of soap operas "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful," game shows "The Price is Right" and "Let's Make a Deal," and growing talker "The Talk." In honor of their continued success the network has bestowed upon the cast and crews of each program a plaque that highlights key reasons everyone watches CBS Daytime.
