According to Soap Opera Digest, which first reported the news, Mansi has already begun taping and will make her Port Charles debut during the week of May 22. Meanwhile, Ainsworth made her final appearance as Kristina in the Thursday, April 27 episode, which saw the character supporting her stepbrother, Michael (Chad Duell), at his wedding and her sister, Molly (Haley Pullos), who was dealing with pregnancy issues.

At press time, there was no reason given for the recast, but, as we previously reported, Ainsworth is set to appear in the season finale of “NCIS.”

The last time the character was recast was in 2012 when Lindsey Morgan took over the role following Ainsworth’s departure. Morgan departed the series one year later while Ainsworth returned to the show in 2015.

In 2016, it was revealed that Kristina had been having an affair with her college professor (played by Ashley Jones).

Best known for her role as Abby Deveraux DiMera on “Days of our Lives,” Mansi won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2017 for her portrayal. She was nominated again in 2019 in the Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series category.

Mansi can currently be seen as Hunter Clarkman in the limited series “Casa Grande,” now streaming exclusively on Amazon Freevee. Click here for more information.
