Yesterday, it was announced that veteran soap actor Rick Hearst would be returning to ABC’s “General Hospital” for the first time since 2009 as his character Ric Lansing. Hearst is scheduled to first air on Monday February 24, but isn’t expected to speak until Tuesday, February 25, according to ABC Soaps In Depth. In honor of his grand return, the actor took to Twitter to thank the fans, “GH” executive producer Frank Valentini and head writer Ron Carlivati for making it all happen.

After Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) commented on her Twitter page earlier this week after a fan asked, “When will it be time for Ric to come home???” and the actress responded with, “shooting it this week ull see it next month,” fans have been left wondering if that meant Rick Hearst would be returning to ABC’s “General Hospital.” Today, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that the actor is indeed heading back to Port Charles.

Per the publication’s website, Hearst has begun filming his scenes as noted by Grahn and will first air on Monday, February 24, which just so happens to be the same day the daytime drama series celebrates its 13,000th episode.

After fans began speculating on her possibly joining a soap following a January 8 posting on her website, which said, “Good things are ahead this year and I hope to have more to report very soon,” NBC’s “Days of our Lives” made it official: Soap veteran actress Kassie DePaiva is joining the series in the contract role of Eve Donovan (originated by Charlotte Ross).

“We are excited to welcome Kassie to the ‘DAYS’ family,” said Greg Meng, co-executive producer in a statement released today. “Stay tuned to find out how the return of Eve Donovan shakes things up in Salem!”

Best known for her portrayal of Blair Cramer on “One Life to Live,” DePaiva also played Chelsea Reardon on “Guiding Light.” The actress took the character of Blair to Port Charles in 2012 on “General Hospital.”

DePaiva’s first airdate is expected sometime this summer.

Best known for his portrayal of Joey Buchanan on ABC’s “One Life to Live” in the 1990′s, actor Chris L. McKenna is heading to CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.” The actor first noted his joining the series in a tweet to his followers on Friday, January 17, which said, “It appears I’ll be making a bit of a return to soaps. At least for a few episodes.”

Per a rep for the daytime drama series, who confirms the actor’s joining, McKenna will be portraying the recurring role of Mark Harding and begins filming his scenes tomorrow, January 22 with a first airdate set for Monday, February 17.

“He’ll appear during an exciting event that will bring several Genoa City residents together,” says the rep.

“Days of our Lives” star Alison Sweeney will announce on the Tuesday, January 21 edition of “The Ellen Show” that she will be departing the NBC Daytime drama series after portraying the role of Samantha “Sami” Brady for 21 consecutive years. Sweeney’s contract is set to expire in December 2014, according to published reports.

“I decided that it’s going to be my last year with the show,” said an emotional Sweeney to host Ellen DeGeneres on her future at “DAYS.” Sweeney added, “I’ve been on ‘Days of our Lives’ since I was 16 years old and I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time. I mean, it’s so awesome. I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job. I love daytime, I love the fans, I love everything about it.”

As first reported by Soap Opera Digest, Ilene Kristen (ex-Roxy Balsom, “One Life to Live”) will again be reprising her “Ryan’s Hope” role of Delia Ryan on ABC’s “General Hospital.”

Kristen first re-appeared as the character on two episodes of “GH” back in October 2013. In those episodes, viewers learned that Delia is the mother of Ava Jerome (Maura West) and grandmother of Kiki Jerome (Kristen Alderson).

Friday, January 17 marked the final tape date for “Days of our Lives’” Camila Banus (Gabi Hernandez), who joined the soap in October 2010. The actress announced plans to depart the soap in an August 2013 interview with Soap Opera Uncensored.

“Tomorrow is my last day shooting as my beloved character Gabi! Thought this photo was dramatic enough. Everyone wish me luck on my last day of taping as Gabi on Days of our Lives,’” wrote the actress the day before she filmed her final scenes in a message published on her Instagram page.

While character and storyline details aren’t available at this time, actor Chris McKenna tweeted earlier this evening, “It appears I’ll be making a bit of a return to soaps. At least for a few episodes.” He tagged CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” in the tweet to his followers.

Last appearing in daytime in 1993, when his three year stint as Joey Buchanan on ABC’s “One Life to Live” concluded, McKenna has appeared in episodes of numerous primetime shows including “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Rizzoli & Isles,” and more recently TV Land’s “The Exes.” McKenna had a recurring role on The CW’s “90210″ from 2011-2013. In 2014, he can be seen in the features “Off the Grid” and “Blind Pass.”

A rep for the drama series was unavailable for comment at press time.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Donna Mills, famous for her portrayal of Abby Ewing on CBS’ “Knots Landing,” is joining the cast of ABC’s “General Hospital” in a BIG new role.

Per the website, Mills was the only choice for her mysterious character “particularly because the writers are major fans of her old primetime soap.”

While full character details (name, storyline, etc.) are unavailable at this time, the site says that viewers can expect to see Mills first air sometime in late February.
