A week of 1.6s for Days what a sad sight to see this show go like this the other soaps look like they sinking as well.

    • zerk

What is sadder is actually wasting an hour a day watching Days.

  • Brad Wayne

and to know Days will be the next on the chopping block sad!!!!

  • Brad Wayne

show more of the gay men i like seeing paul and the gang in spandex yummy!!!

    • bbupme

I think they should bring back Ciara Brady as a lesbian or female to male trans. I heard that the new writer Ron is big on gay characters but I also heard that most of his gay themed work was poorly written on GH and that he writes cartoon-like stories in general. The show needs more racially and ethnically diverse young characters to attract younger viewers. Or they should just give Bernie Sanders a role on Days to get them to watch…hahaha Ron’s work wont be seen until summer so maybe you can look forward to scenes with shirtless men at the lake (if it is renewed).

      • lulu

Leave Bernie ALONE, he has better things to do and i am quite sure he doesn’t even know daytime soaps exist..he is very very much bigger and better things to do ! Wtf..even if it was some attend at ‘humor’ it was lame…ass…ha !

  • charlie bracken

Blast all the shows took hits, Not surprising with all the premptions we have been having due to the president. Y&R has been good lately Jill’s heart attack..

    • TruthSquad

      I’m enjoying.

    • Amie

Yeah Heart disease will be a story to tell

    • jesse

Agree Jill’s story is good.Y&R is still better without Pratt/JFP.It’s a relief knowing there are no baby switching, doppelganger type stories anymore.

      • Bantilau Regnies

No, there is Nikki playing piano, so much better smh

        • jesse

For the fans of Pratt you can watch his new gig Star on Fox.I read some the reviews, hilarious.Nikki playing with her grandson Reed at a family dinner it was ok.Better than having to watch crazy Patty again, another baby switching story, Ian Ward with a lame scheme.

          • Bantilau Regnies

The fans of Pratt? I’m sorry … What? Why are you even talking about Pratt? It’s not Pratt’s fault (or mine) if the show is a total bore. And NO, I don’t think people watch a soap opera to see a woman playing piano. You hate baby switches but that’s exactly what a soap opera is about : DRAMA. For the record, 25 years ago, Sheila Carter switched a baby with Lauren Fenmore’s son to pretend Scotty was hers. Maybe it’s time to stop pretending babies switches never existed before Pratt.

          • jesse

Who cares about 25 yrs ago?Sage/Sharon that sucked big time.Keep watching Sally and complain doesn’t matter to me.

          • Bantilau Regnies

You complain because Pratt did baby switches and I can’t tell you to learn your history? EVERY SOAP has done baby switches. ALL THE TIME!!!

And by the way, I don’t watch that mess, I read recaps and thats enough to bore me to death. The funniest part is it “doesn’t matter to you” but you keep answering me LOL.

    • Bantilau Regnies

Stop the fake excuses !!! YR ratings suck because the show sucks!!

  • Vendi Smith

Mal and Sally aren’t not getting the job done. It’s time for them both to hit the exit doors. Y&R has never been this boring with so many fluff stories.

    • FoxyRoxyy

Y&R is a complete bore. Ya gotta laugh at the excuses people create such as pre-emptions hurting the show. There was only a premption on Friday last week and even if you discard Friday, Y&R is still nowhere close to the 5 million viewers they got a year ago. Viewers are clearly rejecting Mal and Sally’s boring vision for the show. Rough times are ahead. Even the cancelled soaps had higher demos than Y&R is getting now. The remaining 4 are on borrowed time.

      • robert

it’s too boring. where’s the sweeps?

    • charlie bracken

Vendi It’s only been two months, These two have done wonders with what they walked into last December!! In all Honesty The show it self has been OUTSTANDING in terms of story and getting the show back on track after Two years of hell. You all are so Nit picky it isn’t funny, The Jill story is well played out. You have everyone back to normal. The Lauren stuff next week with scott looks good.

      • Bantilau Regnies

Everyone back to normal? The thing is WE SAW THE TEN PAST YEARS.

    • robert

the show is just too boring and none of the stories have high stakes

  • missmeka1987

Yeah I think all the premptions are hurting the four soaps right now

    • Salem Spectator

And DOOL’s time change in New York City. It’s now on at 12 noon.

      • rbiro

If Days used to air at two or three and moved to Noon then maybe you can say the students are in school and can no longer watch it. However it went from 1 pm to Noon. I think whoever was home at 1 can most likely watch it at 12. Blame it on the poor writing is what I say. Rating loses are normal for Days. And do not forget we are approaching a time when this time last year Days had really bottomed out especially during the 2016 spring/summer.

    • Michael Taylor

What soaps will get renewed this year?

    • Vendi Smith

I am starting to fear that the Trump’s presidency is gonna be the death blow to all the soaps. The news conferences are getting way out of control and there’s no need for these daytime networks to cover them live in the middle of the day. You can have a full recap on the nightly news or recap it during the commercial breaks. I am gonna spend the weekend getting caught up on what we missed from this week. None of the soaps could catch a break from Trump television this week.

      • Mandy

What’s bad is the inconsistency. Sometimes it’s a network, nationwide preemption and sometimes (like Thursday) it’s up to the affiliates.

I find NBC tends to break in less often than CBS and especially ABC. I suspect it’s because they have MSNBC and no problem driving viewers there and letting DAYS run.

        • Richie

Thank you. It is the networks decision to cut in for any news. The news conference or whatever will go on irregardless, whether the networks cut in or not. The powers that be at the networks are all afraid of being one-upped by the other network. That being said, prime time cut ins rarely happen, & when they do, whatever shows were interrupted, are picked up after the interruption where they left off & prime time will go on way past 11PM. at times. Don’t even dream of that scenario for daytime, the networks don’t really care.

          • TV&MovieBuff

It’s always brought up about prime time not being cut in but does anyone ever think that is a lot less going on in prime time. There’s not as much government press conferences going on unless there is a war or bombing or some big case where the jury comes in. Daytime is when things happen. Most of them are just like us at 5 or 6 p.m. we go home to our families.

And one of the reasons that the shows carry on without interruption is because advertising premiums are higher in prime time and if those ads don’t air the networks have to give the advertiser free ad time to replace them. It is cheaper for them to make up for the ad time lost in daytime than it is in prime time.

        • Kathy

Mandy, I live in Chicago. You are not correct when you say NBC breaks in less than the other soap channels. NBC has been breaking in for the last 2 years due to cop killings, fires and etc. I have complained to the station, at the time especially 1-2 years ago, the other soaps were on, only Days was pre-empted DUE TO BREAKING NEWS. Am fed up with all of this myself. The stations response: watch it on an NBC. app or watch it on NBC com. a day later. They said they breaking news is more important than the soap.

          • Mandy

That’s your station’s decision, not an NBC network decision. NBC as a whole tends to have fewer nationwide, network-mandated interruptions than the others.

  • jesse

The renewal talks for Days should really be interesting. The sweeps are a total disaster.Higley gets the blame and fired but Corday is the reason Days is so awful. One circus is saying goodbye Ringling Bros. That was great entertainment. The terrible circus aka Days of our lives should be put out of its misery bc it is a joke.

    • SadShows

Days got so much press these couple of past weeks through JM’s death and his scenes on Days and with cancellation rumors. However, it has not helped at all.

      • lulu

Because this soap sucks..This soap tptb screw us (some quite important part of the audience) over again and again..now it is too little too late, end of story.

  • Derrick

Not good for all soaps especially Y&R! Hope it increases next week!

  • ctshar

GH needs new writers who write the strong women on GH to drive story AND if you interrupt for a non-urgent news, you’ll lose viewers to the cable news networks. So, stop.

  • robert

not surprised about Y&R’s numbers. the show is a total bore. Sally is putting the audience to sleep. the show needs some action

  • Salem Spectator

Think of the genre as a ship with four decks. It has hit an iceberg and is sinking. One by one all decks will go under. The fans are the passengers, many for whom are trying to hang on by fighting for life preservers. It is useless because if one deck goes down, it will pull the others down with it. Quit damning the decks because they make the ship whole. Damage to one will sink them all.

    • monzo

I wish we’d get some info about complete daytime ratings again like we did on the site sometimes in the past. If The Price Is Right, The Chew … all tumble I guess our soaps are a little bit safer, because the networks can’t cancel their entire line-ups.

  • Mandy

I see two things happening. None of the four are anywhere near a creative peak right now, and they haven’t been for some time. There are very few “must-see” episodes. Y&R and GH are snoozy, B&B is repetitive and DAYS is…a situation, as we say in the South.

That alone is enough to erode viewership. Then you throw in the Trump press conferences. It’s starting to feel like OJ 2.0. Even if the stories were strong, it’s hard for any to gain traction when fans miss 20 minutes of an episode two or three times a week. And for many fans, regardless of their feelings on Trump, the pressers are must-see TV, so they will watch a cable channel if there isn’t a preemption.

It’s a bad combination. I am more worried than ever about the future of soaps.

  • MaximumUniverse

Y&R is desperate for a shot in the arm. How much longer will CBS & Sony tolerate these dismal numbers in key demos and overall ratings?. It’s obvious that Sussman & Young have miscalculated today’s audience & how to engage them. The show is so slow and boring now. Jill’s heart attack is the big February sweeps storyline? Nick and Chelsea are playing tonsil hockey. Jack is biting his lower lip. Vickie is taunting Abby, who is running Newman Enterprises. Ridiculous. Victor is moping around because he thinks he helped kill Adam. Seriously, this show sucks. Let the Bells start running the show again.

    • FoxyRoxyy

Young & Sussman are clueless about todays audience. They are a failure. This is a sweeps month and look at those numbers. They should both be fired, and take McDaniel with them for allowing this to happen.

    • charlie bracken

Give me a break will you, Given what we went through two years ago this is Child’s play compared to that. You fans are so Damn Nit picky anymore it’s not funny, I’m liking what sally is doing given what Kay and Her walked into the show has been Back on track I think as far as direction goes. what more do you all want huh, the stories are moving a Nice pace, the characters are back to themselves again.

  • SoapArmageddon

    OMG! This is a bloodbath.

If these trends keep up, B&B is going to overtake Y&R in 2017.

    • monzo

Have you guys realized that Y&R and B&B are getting bigger and bigger at Pop? Maybe some viewers enjoy watching their soaps during dinner so that daytime ratings slip.

      • FoxyRoxyy

To put into perspective, Y&R and B&B did do good Thursday on Pop, but only because of the Trump pre-emption. B&B was not shown on the east coast at all so viewers turned to Pop. If you look at the overall trend that WeLoveSosps reports, Y&R has gone down significantly on Pop. They used to make the Top 150 regularly, but in the last few months, they DON’T make the Top 150 more often than not. As on CBS, the Pop ratings have dropped also. Sally’s boring writing is not helping at all.

        • monzo

Thanks for telling me about those preemptions, Foxy! I wish Pop would air all soaps.

  • JONNYSBRO

Who ever thought people would be yearning for JFP and Pratt. At least we had a plane crash, fire and excitement. Also much higher ratings. Jill and Pratt two years ago had 5.5 million

  • Paul

Did anyone see Corday new interview in SOD?

He said he still doesn’t know if Days will get another renewal what is point of hiring a writer if NBC may still cancel it. You think NBC is looking at these ratings and having second thoughts but this old writers material not the new writers stuff this is why i don’t get why these ratings would decide Days fate or not.

Corday must know if Days will get another pick up because if they its gets axed they soon stop filming as its contract only runs to Sep 2017.

    • charlie bracken

I don’t see days being axed yet, Since Ron starts this July along with Sheri I think the show should be in good shape. I’ll be interested in what KC said about why he fired his beloved Dh again…

    • TV&MovieBuff

It wouldn’t be the first time that Corday has not gone into negotiations by firing the current writers and hiring new writers in hopes that it will sway the vote toward keeping the show. Corday knows no new tricks. He does the same old thing over and over. Reboot, rehire, fire, new plan to save the show…..over and over…recycle, rinse, repeat.

    • monzo

I read it. I never knew why Days had to be so far ahead in production, but now I get it. I’m a little worried about the head writer change in the middle of the big summer storyline. It means that Days has to become very very bad in writing. Ron has to deal with it, so this mess will take until September before it’s done. I do not like that they are planning to keep Hope & Rafe as a couple, that won’t work.

      • Tammy Bostick

agree i’m sorry corday is a joke he has trashed his parents once great show and hope and rafe makes me sick and this 30 year fanstopped watching especially with the destruction of the hortons and bradys and i miss Bo peter reckell !!! It deserves cancellation

  • Eileen

Soaps are never coming back from the numbers they have now; even gains made some weeks drop the next and look at the losses from last year, which is the most telling. Soaps unfortunately, look dated and corny compared to their prime time rivals and it all can’t be blamed on budget. Get rid of the 60s-80s type storylines and making women ding a lings or victims who can’t live without a man.

    • padange

Primetime ratings are dropping too. It’s a general trend. TV viewing habits have changed drastically.

      • monzo

Agreed. Primetime is even worse shape than daytime. Y&R got more viewers than CBS dramas Training Day, Ransom and Elementary right now, while GH is watched by more people than ABC’s primetime shows Quantico, Agents of Shield and some weeks The Real O’Neals. Who would’ve thought 20 years ago that daytime soaps deliever more viewers than primetime shows? Networks got much bigger problems right now than risking new shows aka new flops for daytime, so Y&R, B&B and GH should be safe for awhile.

        • padange

The problem with soaps is that they are becoming too expensive to produce for daytime. But maybe if the trend continues primetime shows will become too expensive for primetime too lol, then, if soaps survive, they can move to primetime. Btw, in Europe soaps are doing very well in primetime or afternoon.

      • Bantilau Regnies

LOL!!! Y&R is a flop. Stop the fake excuses.

        • padange

I’m not excusing Y&R, it really lacks drama and has boring as hell couples lol. But there is a general trend of decline in TV viewership too.

  • Dianne

Anyone remember a Tony Viscardi from YR? I vaguely do. Sadly, I just read the actor died. He was only born in 1964.
About BB, I don’t watch anymore but I saw in one of the soap rags that Sally Spectra was recasted. Not long before that I read that CJ was to be back for the show’s 30th anniversary. This new Sally is young. Has she appeared on screen yet? Darlene Conley would be in her early 80’s if she was still living.

    • TV&MovieBuff

      She’s the old Sally’s niece.

      • Dianne

Thanks. I skimmed through what I saw, and assumed it was a recast. Which of course would have been ridiculous. This does make more sense.
Of course, since Bell killed off both Macy & Darla (only Brooke over age 40 survives), Bell now has to create another “instant” character.

    • diego

      RIP TONY

  • TV&MovieBuff

Well the soaps can’t be happy with these ratings but from what I am reading and seeing sweeps has not really been a big priority for any of them.

I love that B&B is trying something new with the Spectra’s but I fear the loss of the black family I love (sorry I forget their name right now). Bell seems to get bored with characters after awhile and just lets them slip into oblivion. And the Spectra story really needed Thorne to help tie it to the show for me.

I’m still loving Y&R….much more than many online are. This week it didn’t lose too bad. Loving that Jill is getting a story and hope that she continues to get more to do.

Was sad to hear the news that once again Valentini is pulling OLTL characters on to GH. That and RC’s cartoonish writing were the reasons I quit watching the show. I loved OLTL but hated how the OLTL characters were given such prominence on the show and then when they couldn’t use them they just created new characters for the 3 actors. GH has such a rich history of characters who have been overlooked and not used properly. GH fans have been pining for them for years. The writers and Valentini just want to create new characters or use OLTL’s characters instead of pining GH’s rich history.

    • padange

This might be ABC’s strategy to attract OLTL fans to watch GH.

      • Keanna

But it’s alienated long time GH fans

      • TV&MovieBuff

If OLTL fans were going to watch GH they already would have with the addition of the other characters and the actors. And if that was the case then why didn’t ABC insist on AMC characters too — they could have attracted AMC fans too. This is nothing to do with ABC. It is only about Valentini’s hardon for his pet OLTL actors and characters. There should be another phrase invented for Friend of Frank just like there is for Friend of Jill. Why if you’re a friend of Frank he’ll create no nonesense characters over and over to keep you on the show.

It amazes me at the nonsense some of these producers go to in order to keep their pets alive and well on the show. Ken Corday does the same with many of his.

    • Salem Spectator

      *Avant family.

  • Keanna

Y&R fans need to be patient, I know that’s a lot to ask but it’s going to take at least six months for the show to fully notice a turn around.

Days, the execution of the storylines have been bad in recent weeks for the most part.

As for GH, been saying for the longest on what’s wrong with the show, it’s not just one couple or character or storyline, it’s a little of everything.

    • FoxyRoxyy

Fans are not going to come back in 6 months.

      • Keanna

Well it’s going take that or even longer to fix it, got to have patience with it’s only been two months

    • TOM

I agree Jill and Pratt left a huge mess for sally and Kay to fix it is going to take some time for Y&R to improve

      • Bantilau Regnies

LOL!! The only mess here is Sally’s writing and her selective memories.

    • padange

I’m pretty sure more than 80% viewers don’t even know (or care) about the writing change(s). They just tune in and watch or tune out if they don’t like what they see.

    • ctshar

GH is an easy fix. Stop writing the sonny the saint mobster stories. Focus on the strong women and stop the sexist crap. Also, if you’re head writers are two elderly women can’t write a modern soap, hire writers who can with a show consultant to keep the history straight. When you focus on a reformed serial killer and an old mobster, you’re going to have demo rating problems.

  • TV&MovieBuff

I love that Sally and Kay are taking a different approach to Y&R than any of the multiple soap opera writing teams of any of the 3 soaps have in the past 10 or so years. The modern day soap writers have come in and immediately jumped to firing actors and behind the scenes personnel and bringing in their own new characters right off from the start. Every new writing team at Days has done it. All the new writing teams at Y&R did it. And Cartini did it at GH when they came on.

No one has taken the time just to concentrate on fixing the damage and the canvas before jumping in. It’s a new approach. A different approach than what we have had. And of course fans are b*tching and moaning about it, but they were about the old format too. So either way they are. The old format wasn’t working either. So why not give something else a chance.

The late great soap writer had 10 rules by which he wrote soaps by and 2 of them were that you didn’t fire anyone within your first 6 months of your writing stint within a show…you looked at the canvas and got to know what was working and what wasn’t before you made rash decisions. And build new characters very slowly and never shove a new character down viewers throats. He said it takes the average viewer six months to a year to care about a new character.

How many times have we seen this happen over and over again in the last 10 to 20 years where new characters were brought on and shoved down our throats. This type of stuff is what is driving viewers away.

    • TruthSquad

I agree. Nothing happens overnight .

      • Kevin Little

William J. Bell AND Douglas Marland could both come back from the dead and start writing for this show and these trolls would STILL complain about the show and the writing.

Let’s face it. It’s their only thrill in life. Whatever floats their boat, I guess.

        • TruthSquad

I agree. I for one am a pleased Y&R viewer

        • FoxyRoxyy

Look at the numbers Kev. Bill Bell’s show ain’t doing so great. It’s boring.

        • Bantilau Regnies

Why do you care this much about people who don’t enjoy the show? I don’t get it!! You like the show! Great for you! Some people don’t and it’s their right to speak their mind.

    • FoxyRoxyy

Boring writing, which Sally is doing, is also driving viewers away. She isn’t doing anything different. She brought in new characters right away (Ravi and others so dull that I can’t recall their namrs). Sally is inconsistent. One week Nikki and Sharon bond over the loss of Dylan and the next week Sharon is pouring milk over Nikki’s head. Viewers are not responding to Sally’s writing. She isn’t fixing anything. She’s boring the viewers to death.

      • Pete Ra

Only Ravi has been added. And I like him!

        • FoxyRoxyy

Not true. There’s a new Jordan character. Ravi is creepy. Does nothing for me.

    • Bantilau Regnies

Fixing the damages? She is the only one doing damages here. Pretending the ten past years never happened is not a way to “fix damages” just a way to insult viewers and turn them off.

      • FoxyRoxyy

The numbers speak for themselves. Sally Sussman has been a huge failure so far. This is February sweeps and viewers are tuning out by the hundreds of thousands. This will not end well.

      • TV&MovieBuff

And the others didn’t pretend that the years before them didn’t happen? I can’t even get naked and use body parts to count the stories that the 3 or 4 previous writing regimes rewrote or retconned in an effort to rewrite history or work it to fit the PLOT they wanted they wanted to portray. Bringing back Philip from the dead and writing him as gay to only forget about it a month later and soon write him off into history. Using Adam’s sexuality as a plot point to have him seduce a man to get his way — to never visit that again. Even wiping away the character he seduced so that fans would forget it after the shock of the plot. Jill’s parentage twice. Paul and Nikki’s sudden grown child. And over and over I could go.

        • Bantilau Regnies

“Other regimes also did it” is how you’re defending the current HW? LOL!

Read Sussman’s interview. She trashed previous regimes, then just did worse.

She introduced herself as the YR savior so yes, I can laugh at her ratings and her bad writing.

Many people turned off after that interview. She is arrogant. And she has no reason for that because she will cleary be the death of the show.

          • FoxyRoxyy

Sussman is clearly the final nail in Y&R’s coffin. She is so out of touch, and the ratings prove it.

          • TV&MovieBuff

No I am not defending her by that because I don’t feel she is ignoring the show. She is fixing the show as to what fans have asked for many years to happen — to fix the characters that these hacks have messed up. My response was to you for saying that as if what you are saying she is doing only applied to her.

The death of Y&R won’t be on Sally Sussman alone if it happens but it will be on Sony, the current Bell family, Lynn Latham, Maria Bell, Jean Passanante, Josh Griffith, Shelley Altman, Charles Pratt, Jill Phelps, and all those behind the scenes who have royally screwed this show in the last 10 or so years trying to make it into something it wasn’t. Y&R is not a stunt show. It was never a plot show. And it was never intended to be a rip off of ABC soaps. It was a unique soap opera beloved by millions and now it has no identity at all.

          • FoxyRoxyy

Pratt & Phelps brought in the ratings that Young & Sussman can only DREAM about.

          • Bantilau Regnies

You don’t feel she is ignoring the show??

“Ditto when they made Jill and Lauren sisters—an idea that went absolutely nowhere.
-That’s also something I’m choosing to ignore and will probably negate at some point.”

“What about Nick not being Christian’s father? Will that be revealed soon?
-I’m not playing it at all. Adam is off the show. And Justin Hartley will never be back. He’s too successful now. He’s gone.”

She is ignoring the show. Not my words, HERS!!!

          • Pete Ra

Victor and Chelsea talked about Christian last week. So they aren’t ignoring it. As for Lauren/Jill, they’ve never played up any closeness between them since the reveal. If it’s undone, it won’t be too messy. Unlike the mess when they undid Jill being Katherine’s daughter and Cane being Jill’s son.

          • Bantilau Regnies

Oh really? They talked about it last week? Does Nick knows he is not Christian’s father? HE DOESN’T!!
Jill and Lauren are not close? WHAT? Delia’s death? Fenmore in jail? Yes, they are close

        • Bantilau Regnies

First day of Sally, December 7th “Jack is the only brother you have” Jill to Billy.
Sally doesn’t even know Philipp’s existence, is that better? LOL

          • FoxyRoxyy

Sally is all over the place. John Abbott is NOT Ashley’s father. Now she’s moving Lauren to the Scotty story. What happened to Fenmores? Sally Boring Sussman is not the answer to Y&R’s ratings woes.

    • charlie bracken

I so agree with that statement, kay and Sally have done wonders with fixing the show the past two months.

  • Stephen Dark fox

Every day that week was some sort of interruption sans GH.

  • Alana

So the young people didnt tune in for screeching Kristina’s return to GH?

  • cab

I wish we could see the ratings for all of daytime. I know primetime is in trouble too, but what about the other programming that airs during daytime, how are they doing?
There was a lot on Days that kept me tuned in, the baby Holly story, the search for Stephano, Hope’s escape and the Orwell device storyline among others. I know this is all plot driven and no real character after shock or effect, but it is what keeps me tuning in. The younger viewers are not going to sit around watch TV watching people talk about something or someone that has had something happen to them. Days continues to try to attract the new viewers while alienating some of the fans, but if they are true fans they would stick with the show.
I have never experienced Ron C’s writing before, but I hope he can keep me tuning in along with the other fans. Everyone complains about a soap writing team for all of the soaps, can we not just enjoy our other family and friends that we have been tuning in for years. Other than airing them possibly in primetime, what else can the soaps do to attract and keep new viewers? They may not have the budget that they once did, but they can save themselves by adapting to these times. Someone posted that Days airs at 1am on their NBC station due to its gay characters, give me a f****** break, gay characters are all over primetime and daytime, as well as in movies. Can we not just grow up and enjoy your show and stop complaining. I still miss to this day Another World, and would love for it and its’ characters to come back.

    • JayTN

NBC’s Salt Lake City affiliate – which serves all of Utah – does indeed air “Days” in late night. The LDS Church (aka Mormons) own this affiliate and gave the Will & Sonny storyline as a reason for the overnight airing. This same affiliate refused to air “Saturday Night Live” for years before picking it up a few years back and refused to air NBC’s primetime comedy “The New Normal” (which featured a same sex couple as the leads) from a couple of years ago.

The only other daytime programs that have their weekly numbers mentioned on a regular basis are “The View” and “The Talk” on ABC & CBS. Occasionally, CBS will mentioned the numbers for their game shows.

For the week listed above, “The View” (airing at 11am) had 2.89 million viewers while “The Talk” (airing at 2pm) had 2.79 million viewers.

Days of our LIVES RENEWED for another YEAR !!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

    • Salem Spectator

      I love it!

    • DaysLuv

Thank you so much for posting this! Great news! Its like a slap in the face to all the haters! hahaha

      • GayDays

Oh yes!! I am sure Ron will save Days. Make Days Gay Again!

        • TV&MovieBuff

If you are expecting Ron to make Days gay again — from his past experience with gaydom in soaps YOU WILL BE GREATLY DISAPPOINTED. You’ll either get stuff like Will & Sonny sitting around watching Golden Girls, or Will & Sonny having a threesome, or characters pretending to be gay only to win an election. He has one gay story that started out promising and that was on One Life To Live and it spiraled off into some awful mess that almost got the show cancelled long before it was and resulted in all the characters involved being fired.

      • diego

        Say it again
I am glad to hear the news and more than happy about posting

      • truth

It is not a ‘slap in the face’, NBC doesn’t have a better option for now..that is all. Once they find a better option (aka program who is cheap but can give them better ratings) Days will go bye bye like yesterday’s news. ps : ‘hater’..it is cute..i don’t know for others, but i am not a ‘hater’..i should care for that..and I DON’T CARE in the least !! lol.

        • real

Keep voicing your opinions. Keep Days trending! Thank you

        • JayTN

Whatever NBC is prepping to replace “Days” (and let’s be real, they are prepping a replacement), I hope it isn’t another – likely indistinguishable – talk show. NBC Daytime always had good success with their game shows (including “Wheel of Fortune”, “Concentration” and “Sale of the Century” among others), so I would hope that they go with a game show in the event they cancel “Days”.

      • TV&MovieBuff

I so love the immaturity level shown by all those on the Internet who throw out the word hater. Not just saying that to you in particular but putting it out there to all. Can we please get the h*ll past this immaturity. Sounds like a bunch of 3rd graders posting instead of what is supposed to be adults.

As to the subject, I am glad for Days fans. I was once among you but have been so far removed from the show now I’m not sure if I will ever go back. Every time there is an inkling of interest something the show does squashes it completely. As to hating the show I don’t. Hate implies a deep feeling, and as to Days I just don’t feel much anymore. It’s a nice memory of the past, but it’s like an ex-girlfriend that I just don’t have any feelings for anymore. I don’t wish any evil upon it, but it’s just not for me anymore.

    • Joell

This is fantastic news. I was too worried that NBC might pull the plug
on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, however, I am cautiously optimistic. If this
[latest] regime change does not connect and spark something, I don’t
foresee DAYS OF OUR LIVES reaching its 53rd anniversary!

    • trroy

Great news indeed, but it wasn’t exactly
a secret. You don’t bring in a heavy hitter like Ron Carlivati as head
writer without assurances that there is more sand in the hourglass.
That being said, this is DAYS’ last best chance to flourish and grow.
Let’s hope they don’t blow it, because daytime TV needs Salem to be
      around as long as possible..

    • trdy56

Absolutely love Dool… so HAPPY they are staying… I have watched
since I was a little girl this is one show that keeps my childhood
memories with watching with my mom..she watched them when they started
and I have continued to watch from this day… .Thank you NBC.

  • Carmel Smith

YR is so bad. I used to look forward to it. I watch whenever now. Never live. I am enjoying Days.

    • FoxyRoxyy

      Y&R is so boring!

  • Toast2DaysFans

NBC has renewed Days for another year!! And I wanted to say thank you to all the fans that supported the show these last couple of months. We managed to get a head writer change and a renewal because we voiced our concerns, support and love. We were bombarded with cancellation rumors and even were told that the actors on Days were told to “pack their bags” (fake news). But we managed to keep hope alive and stay positive. I want all the remanding soaps to succeed but Days holds a special place in my heart. Once again thank you to all including Corday, Sony, NBC, the writers, actors and crew and most of all the fans (the positive and negative ones) for keeping this show on the air…(sigh of relief…for now).

    • Dianne

Although I am sincerely glad DOOL was renewed, it was not because of the fans.
It’s because there are no better options to replace DOOL with.
Also If DOOL was cancelled, how far would you have to go back to one of the big 3 networks and not one soap was on?

      • JayTN

“DOOL was renewed…because there was no better options to replace [it] with.” I don’t buy this as a realistic argument. NBC can easily turn this hour occupied by “Days” over to the local affiliates. ABC did this with GH’s old 3pm time slot and with the 12:30pm time slot after it canceled “Port Charles”. Fox doesn’t have a daytime schedule at all, pushing the responsibility to fill those hours to their affiliates.

        • henrh

Very well said and thought out.

    • carlaa

I just wish they’d stop filming so far in advance. IMO it really hurts the quality of the show.

    • squarred

I haven’t watched regularly in a few years (and only returned for the
50th anniversary run in recent years), but it was always nice to know
Days was on if I happened to get a chance to tune in. I thought it
was a goner, but I’m glad NBC is keeping it. It’s one of those old
standby shows where you can just pick it right back up.

  • Dianne

Question for BB watchers – How are Sally Spectra’s whereabouts explained?
BB never killed her off. They had here on some cruise somewhere.

    • JayTN

Sally is alive and well off screen, according to head writer Bradley Bell. He has hired a body double to allow Sally to be involved in the Spectra storyline without recasting the role made famous by the iconic (and irreplaceable) Darlene Conley.

  • ian

Y&R has become better since Pratt left BUT is boring. You could watch once every two weeks and keep up with the (lack of) storylines.
