‘One Life’ Issues New Casting Call

'One Life' Issues New Casting Call

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “One Life to Live” issues another new casting call and some minor casting odds and ends for the months of May and June.

The latest audition script is for the role of “Louie.” The scene opens with “Tim” reading an article in the newspaper about “Max.” Louie tells him that he shouldn’t believe what he reads in that particular paper. Tim states that at one time it was a good newspaper, until someone stole it, along with the rest of his life, from him. Louie agrees and said that his ex-wife’s current husband did a similar number on him, detailing all the things he took from him, even saying that someone at Rodi’s even thinks the guy looks just like Bon Jovi.

Tim assures him that he’s not crazy and that he knows exactly who he is. Louie says to Tim that everyone knows that some professionals tried to kill him. Louie goes on to assure Tim that he will help him with his predicament, but that he will have to stay somewhere else. Tim says that he really appreciates all his help, and he’ll return the favor someday. Louie says he isn’t getting his hopes up. However, Tim reminds him that he will never forget the fact that he saved his life. Louie then asks he has contacted the police, to which Tim responds that he doesn’t like cops. Louie says that he agrees, however, there is one cop in particular that he can trust. As the scene ends, Louie goes on to explain, talking about what a nice guy this one cop is and that he can be trusted.

Remember that in these scripts, the show tries to throw viewers off the trail by changing character names.

In other news…

Looks like the bullying storyline between Shane (Austin Williams) and Jack (Andrew Trischitta) isn’t quite over yet. Gregory Casimir, who portrayed the clueless Llanview High gym teacher on February 24 and March 23, will be returning soon.  On May 12, he wrote on his Facebook page that “Just booked two more additional episodes of ‘One Life to Live!’ The sexiest teacher in Llaneview is back! I shoot next week. More exciting stuff to come.” Casimir was last seen when his onscreen character was lured away by Jack’s buddies while he humiliated Shane by stealing his clothes and recorded a video of him naked (and later uploaded it to the Internet).

Watch for Austin Peck (Rick Powers) to get mixed up in the Marty (Susan Haskell) storyline next week, but that isn’t the last fans will see of him. Look for him to once again cross paths again soon with Deanna (Nafessa Williams).

Peter Davenport was just cast in an unknown Under 5 role on ‘OLTL.’

Remember last year (June 23 to be exact) when Ford (David A. Gregory) was given a sponge by a nurse while recuperating after being nearly bludgeoned to death by Eli Clarke? That’s what we thought (one of “One Life to Live’s” finer moments it was not). Anyway, that same nurse returns on Tuesday, May 24 when Ford once again catches her eye and she tries to put the moves on him while the pair are talking over drinks. Only now, Ford is more of a gentleman (let the redeeming commence). But in true soap fashion, she plants a kiss on him, which Tess (Bree Williamson) sees. Talk about exciting…

Llanview is about to take an other-worldly turn next week when Roxy (Ilene Kristen) hires a psychic to try and help locate baby Liam.

Flint Beverage and Jonathan Earl Peck debuted as Agent Kent and Mr. Baker, respectively, on Friday, May 13.

That’s Robert Wu in the recurring role of Clint’s medical caregiver Dr. Shen, and Rob A. Yang in the recurring role of Dr. Degroff.

James Rana played EMT #2 on Thursday, May 12 and Friday, May 13. Also last Friday, Diana Bologna portrayed a Nurse.

From the Twitter files…

Kassie DePaiva (Blair) tweeted on Sunday that “I think Roger will add so much 2 the mix. Can’t wait 2 have scenes with him & see where it goes from there. He’s baacckkk! The best is yet to come. Watch out Llanview… Keep watching fans.” And on May 4 she wrote “Worked today. Had great scenes with Michael Easton [John]. Was wonderful to see Roger today. I hope Blair gets to cross paths with that Todd (Trevor St. John).”

Kristen Alderson (Starr) commented that “Such a Soap Opera behind the Soap Operas….lol you wouldn’t believeeee,” and on May 11 that “Lots&lots of scenes for tomorrow!!! Gotta get a decent nights rest for them!!”

And Lenny Platt (Nate) tweets that “Ha. Keep watching ‘OLTL’ this summer for the answer (sorta)” when asked by a fan “If Nate had an alt personality what would his name be?” He also says that “Roger Howarth‘s upcoming stuff looks great. Fans will love [it].” Click here to read some of his other amusing treats about Nate’s shirtless ice cream/squirt gun scenes with Deanna on Monday, along with other topics.

          Y&R Recap: Monday, May 16, 2011

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — "The Young and the Restless" Episode Recap – Monday, May 16, 2011.

          IT HAPPENED TODAY…

Billy and Victoria took a walk in the park when they spotted Lucy in the park with the foster mother that is caring for her. She initially balks at them seeing her, but later relented to their request. Victoria started talking to baby when she became upset. As the baby started to cry, the foster mother told them that it was time they got going; taking Lucy with her out of the park.

Jack and Traci commented on the sudden change of heart Abby managed to find for Ashley and Tucker getting married. Traci realized that Jack still had his reservations about their future brother-in-law. She pointed out that they might just have to swallow their pride and accept that Ashley and he are to be married. Meanwhile, Ashley comes to and sees Tucker lying out in the middle of the road. She tried her best to wake Abby, but she's unconscious from the crash.

Katherine still debated on making peace with Tucker, despite Murphy's insistence. She realized that he is correct and promised that she would talk to him before the wedding gets underway. Unfortunately for her, Tucker and she won't have that conversation. Back at the scene of the accident, the police officer, who had spoken to Tucker moments earlier, tries to see if Tucker is conscious. When Diane emerged from her car, she tells the officer that she wasn't that far behind the car that is on the scene of the accident. He told her to stay with Tucker while he checked on the people in the other car. Diane is floored to see Ashley coming out of the driver's side.

Billy and Victoria return back to the Abbott house and shared the news that they saw Lucy. Jack realized that the foster mother is someone close in the area of where they saw her. Traci offered Victoria and Billy encouragement that they can see that Lucy is being taken care of until they get her back. As they talked, Jack received a phone call from Diane, telling him that Tucker, Ashley and Abby have been in a car accident. Sharing breaking the news, Traci, left with Billy and Victoria to meet them at the hospital. Jack, meanwhile, called Katherine to give the grim news to her.

Victor is ready to head up to bed when his phone rang. Choosing to ignore it, he proceeded up the stairs until he heard Diane's voice on the other end. He too is told about the accident and he quickly picked up the phone, wanting to know exactly what happened. When she hung up the phone, Diane waited until Ashley was in the ambulance with Abby to tell him that she witnessed the car swerving out of control on the road. He officer quickly asked how it was possible to be on the same road at the same exact time of the victims. She said it was mere coincidence. He took her statement, while the paramedics check on Tucker.

At the hospital, everyone awaits to see what actually happened to Abby, Ashley and Tucker. Tucker is the first to arrive and the doctor told them that he needed to get into surgery immediately. Katherine told him that she was his mother and he said he would need for her to sign the appropriate paperwork. Shortly after wheeling him out, they see Abby and then Ashley. Before they can get anything out of her, Det. Harriet Munro interrupted, wanting to get Ashley's statement immediately. It is there, Katherine and the Abbott family learn that Tucker was hit with the car. When Ashley refused to leave to take the blood test, the detective threatened to take her down to the police station. Backed into a corner, Ashley goes to get her blood drawn, making sure to point out that she drove the car because Abby was the one drunk.

Katherine and Murphy headed to Tucker's room and get the grim news from the doctor. He told Katherine that he needed her consent in order to do the surgery. She tells him to do whatever to save her son. Alone, she talked to Tucker, telling him how she wanted to talk to him and apologize for her actions earlier that day. She begged him to do whatever he could to fight to survive.

Ashley returned back from her blood test with the detective, who tells the family that she passed. She still, however, wanted to know why Ashley was driving Abby's car. A frustrated Ashley told her that she drove because Abby was drunk. Probing her for more answers about what happened,Det. Mauro couldn't get anymore answers from Ashley, when the doctor arrived to tell all the condition of Abby. Everyone is happy to know that she is fine. Victor and Ashley headed to her room to see her, while nosey Diane, continued to lurk about, anxious to stir up trouble.

Realizing that there wouldn't be a wedding, Traci and Jack took the task of canceling the wedding. Billy and Victoria opted to help too, and departed from the hospital, while Katherine and Murphy went back to the waiting room. With everyone gone, Diane emerged from her hiding space and approached Det. Mauro, telling her that she believed that Ashley intentionally hit Tucker with the car on purpose.

After 41 Years of Daytime Drama, Susan Lucci Pulls a Dopple Double on 'All My Children'

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Erica Kane has done it all. The cosmetics mogul has famously faced down a bear and won, married eleven times (although only seven of the marriages were valid), staged a prison escape, became a world famous model, served a prison sentence or two, kidnapped a child, cheated on a husband or two, married three generations of men from the same family, slapped a whole lot of people, stabbed men, and became Las Vegas' shortest show-girl and she still made time to embrace her children's children after all that drama. On Thursday, May 12, Susan Lucci stepped into new territory for the diva who had appeared to have done it all – Lucci began playing the role of Jane Campbell on "All My Children." Fans need not fret, Lucci will continue to play the infamous and currently imprisoned Erica Kane simultaneously as she plays the Erica fan that went through an extreme makeover to take over her idol's life.

Though it is a first for Lucci, it isn't the first time that "AMC" has gone down the dual role route. Some of Pine Valley's most notable cases of double sightings include: David Canary who simultaneously played the oh, so bad Adam Chandler and his oh, so good twin brother Stuart Chandler from 1984 to 2010; Kate Collins simultaneously played the beautiful Natalie Dillon and her green-eyed monster sister Janet Green from 1991 to 1992; Michael E. Knight simultaneously played playboy Tad Martin and his rich and his homicidal look-alike Ted Orsini in 1993; Finola Hughes simultaneously played the street smart Anna Devane and her book smart sister Alex Devane from 1999 to 2001; Leven Rambin simultaneously played autistic Lily Montgomery and her naughty half-sister Ava Benton from 2007 to 2008.

Daytime superstar's including Kim Zimmer of CBS' "Guiding Light", Anthony Geary and Jon Lindstrom of ABC's "General Hospital, Eileen Davidson, Kristian Alfonso, Alison Sweeney, James Scott and Deidre Hall of "Days of Our Lives," Anne Heche of NBC's "Another World," Erika Slezak of "One Life to Live," Martha Byrne of CBS' "As the World Turns" and Michelle Stafford of CBS' "The Young and the Restless" have all played two or more roles at the same time on each of their respective daytime dramas.

64-year old Lucci has been with "AMC" since its January 1970 debut. In that time she has infamously earned no less than twenty-one Daytime Emmy nominations in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress. After a losing streak that brought her more fame than heartbreak, Lucci finally won the award in 1999. In between leaving her mark on daytime like no other individual ever has, Lucci has also starred and guest-starred on numerous prime time series and made-for-television movies, been the commercial pitch woman for products including Ford automobiles, starred on Broadway, co-headlined a Vegas-style cabaret act with Regis Philbin, hosted NBC's "Saturday Night Live" authored a memoir, and developed a successful second career as an entrepreneur selling health, beauty and fitness products under her name.

On the Thursday, May 19 episode of "AMC," look for the soap to take a look back at the lengths Jane took before and after her procedure to look like Erica.

Protest or Shut Up: The Time is Now for Soap Fans to Be Heard

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — Pardon me soap fans for being harsh, but It has now been more than a month since ABC canceled "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." It has been nearly two weeks since reports surfaced that "General Hospital" might be in danger of cancellation as well. Since the news broke on that awful Thursday afternoon, message boards and websites all around the world have been flooded with your comments. A failed protest on Tuesday, April 26 in New York City included police presence, but the Los Angeles protest outside of Disney's Burbank headquarters was a joke. Did you see the picture (it's the one on the right)? The LA protest was also attended by former "One Life to Live" star Catherine Hickland (ex-Lindsay Rappaport), who is the blonde pictured in the middle. I mean seriously people! If you have any desire to Save Your Soaps, the time is now for you to do something about it or shut the hell up and accept that the end is near.

On Tuesday, May 17, soap fans in and around New York City are asked to join former Soap Opera Weekly founding editor in chief, Mimi Torchin, and former "As The World Turns" actress, Colleen Zenk (ex-Barbara Ryan), as the two are expected to join protesters across the street from Lincoln Center beginning at 2:00 PM ET and ending at 6:00 PM ET. The decision to protest outside of Lincoln Center on that particular day is due to ABC's Presentation of its 2011-2012 daytime and primetime schedule to the press and advertisers during Upfront week, which begins Monday, May 16 with NBC and FOX. Agencies representing major auto-makers, movie studios (including ABC parent, Disney), pharmaceutical companies, the electronics industry and more are expected to be in attendance as the network fights to get a piece of the $9.2 billion pie up for grabs between competitors CBS, FOX, NBC and The CW. Also fighting for ad dollars is Univision and Telemundo, two spanish speaking television networks dominated with telenovelas (in the US, that means soap operas).

In a statement supporting the protest, Zenk said "as a member of the cast of 'As The World Turns,' I know all too well the anger of the fans and the dismay of all who work in our Daytime world. This is devastating for the acting community and all supporting fields in New York. We are all being affected by these cancellations. This will hit the Broadway community immensely."

TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco spoke with Lowell Peterson, Executive Director of the Writer's Guild of America – East, who agreed to pass on protest information to WGA members interested in attending, in the latest edition of his weekly Suds Report column. According to Lowell, "it's still important to maintain this genre. It's broken a lot of new ground in terms of subject matter, which were once considered taboo or delicate. In addition to providing work for our members, the genre has provided enlightenment. [Soaps] have been a tremendous positive force so it's a shame to see them being canceled."

To join what is expected to be a quiet and respectful protest, make sure to put 132 W. 65th St. & Columbus Ave in your iPhone, iPad, iPod or Android supported device or even search Mapquest or Google Maps for directions. Or, you can always just pull out your trusty old Rand McNally foldout paper road map. If that doesn't work, you could just stop and ask someone for directions along the way.
