CBS’ “The Talk” is set to kick off its eighth season — its first since season two without co-host Aisha Tyler — on Monday, September 11. So what should fans expect as the new season launches with just four co-hosts? And when will they announce who will take on the fifth chair, and does it have to be a woman? First, you can expect an even greater show experience. Second, yes, there will be a fifth co-host at some point. And third, no, it won’t be a man!

For the first time in 38 years, America will experience a total solar eclipse on Monday, August 21. In anticipation of the historic event, the broadcast networks, or in some instances, a number of their affiliated stations, will pre-empt regularly scheduled programming for live coverage.

After six seasons as a co-host on CBS’ “The Talk,” actress and comedian Aisha Tyler said goodbye to her co-hosts, friends and colleagues on the Friday, August 4 edition of the talk show, which also marked the final original for the 2016-17 television season.

Veteran CBS Daytime executives Margot Wain, Ray Paolantonio and Laurie Seidman have been given a promotion, it was announced today by Angelica McDaniel, Executive Vice President, Daytime Programs and Syndicated Program Development, CBS Entertainment and CBS Television Distribution. Wain has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Daytime Programs, and Paolantonio and Seidman have been promoted to Vice Presidents, Daytime Programs.

With a successful lineup consisting of soap operas, game shows and a hit talk show, CBS announced today that it has renewed its full daytime lineup for the 2017-18 television season. Additionally, “The Young and the Restless” received an overall three-year commitment from the network, keeping it on the air through at least the 2019-2020 television season. “The Price is Right” was renewed through the 2018-19 television season.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today the first round of presenters for “The 43rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” taking place Sunday, May 1 from the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, CA and “The 43rd Annual Creative Arts Daytime Emmy Awards” taking place on Friday, April 29, also at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel.

Citing newly released Nielsen Media Research ratings data, CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” is up during first quarter 2016 over first quarter 2015 in Total Viewers. The daytime drama series averaged 5.38 million viewers during the quarter, which is a gain of 11,000 viewers over the comparable quarter a year ago.
