As we reported last week, Retro TV will soon begin airing reruns of NBC’s classic soap opera, “The Doctors,” which has created quite a stir for soap opera fans! What are the details of the soaps’ blast from the past? And could the network bring other former soaps like “Guiding Light,” “As the World Turns,” and “Dark Shadows” to the screen? Retro TV’s Vice President of Production, Matthew Golden, spoke with TV journalist Will McKinley about these questions, so check out some excerpts below!

TVGN is proving why it's now the "the new way to watch soaps." With the network already picking up encore airing rights to "The Young and the Restless" this past summer, and "The Bold and the Beautiful" earlier this month, the network plans to provide soap fans with even more "soap" for their viewing pleasure courtesy of the new documentary, "Who Shot the Daytime Soap?" Airing Monday, December 16 at 8:00 PM ET/PT, preceded by airings of “B&B” at 6:30 PM ET/PT and “Y&R” at 7:00 PM ET/PT, the documentary tackles the history of daytime soap operas as told by those who were there during the good times, the bad times and the new times.

Here's a look at the first trailer for Johnny Depp's new film, "Dark Shadows," which is based on the ABC Daytime gothic soap opera of the same name and aired from June 27, 1966 to April 2, 1971 on the network. The film is being released by Warner Bros. Pictures and scheduled to hit theaters on Friday, May 11, 2012.
