Redding Munsell, the young actor who currently appears as Harrison Abbott on “The Young and the Restless,” has landed a major role in the dark comedy “Little One” from Alex Kavutskiy, who directs from a script he wrote and is producing alongside “Weopons” dup Zach Cregger and Roy Lee, Chris McEwen (“Love, Simon”), Amanda Phillips and Melina Torres of Soto Productions (“Winner,” “The Assistant”), and Alex Lebovici, the latter of whom is providing financining through his Hammerstone Studios.
The story follows a sudden change in a child’s behavior that threatens to tear a picture-perfect family apart.
According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Munsell joins Amy Smart (“Stargirl”), Chiara Aurelia (“Cruel Summer”) and Derek Luh (“Gen V”) as some of the young stars to have joined the film’s cast, with sources telling the outlet that Munsell and Aurelia in particular are set to play the children of the characters portrayed by the previously announced David Harbour (“Stranger Things”) and Gaby Hoffmann. More recently, the film rounded out its cast with Mark O’Brien (Nuremberg), Elias Koteas (“The Thin Red Line”), Carmen Christopher (“Never Change!”), and Jamie McShane (“Task”).
In addition to the film, Munsell can next be seen in the upcoming Ryan Murphy-produced FX thriller, “The Shards,” premiering Wednesday, August 5, on the cable network and Hulu. The series is about a coming-of-age tale of teenagers, exploring the untamed and mysterious era of Los Angeles, 1981, tracking a group of privileged high school friends as a serial killer strikes across the city.

Munsell is reportedly playing a younger version of the lead character, Bret Easton Ellis (played by Igby Rigney), with the show itself based on the autofictional novel of the same name, written by the real-life author of the same name, as it blends memoir, psychological horror, and Los Angeles noir into one big story.
The story centers on Bret, an aspiring writer and keenly observant teenager whose reality begins to unravel with the arrival of a mysterious and magnetic new student, Robert Mallory (Homer Gere). Transferring in just before his senior year, Robert’s appearance coincides with the growing terror of The Trawler, a serial killer targeting teenagers across the city. Also part of their elite social circle are Susan Reynolds (Kaia Gerber), Debbie Schaffer (Hayes Warner) and Thom Wright (Graham Campbell), who together make up a glamorous and deeply entangled group drawn into a life of wealth, beauty, parties and excess. The promise of their youth is contrasted with the dark and cynical world of the adults surrounding them: Terry Schaffer (Wes Bentley), Liz Schaffer (Evan Rachel Wood) and Steven Reinhardt (Jordan Roth).
“The Shards” is executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Bret Easton Ellis, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Eric Kovtun, Scott Robertson, Nissa Diederich, Tanase Popa, Nick Hall, Michael Uppendahl, Max Winkler, Kathleen McCaffrey and Brian Young. It is produced by 20th Television.
