“Beyond the Gates” will kick off its second season on Friday, January 2, after concluding its first season on Thursday, January 1, with 200 episodes aired.
In a promo released on the official CBS YouTube Brand Channel, the network promises a “steamier, wilder, and hotter” season ahead, which will also feature Jordi Vilasuso (“The Young and the Restless,” “Guiding Light”) returning to CBS daytime.
Though the network had not divulged character details for Vilasuso at press time, the promo highlights the Emmy Award-winning actor’s interaction with contract cast member Jen Jacob, who plays Ashley Morgan on the soap opera, as the two share an intimate moment.
Vilasuso is now the second familiar face to join the daytime drama series in recent months, following the addition of Greg Vaughan (“Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital”) as Dr. Kial Rollins, a widower and father of two grown adult children, both male, and an orthopedic surgeon.
Before joining “Beyond the Gates,” Vilasuso previously portrayed Tony Santos on the CBS soap opera “Guiding Light” and, more recently, played Rey Rosales on “The Young and the Restless.” His non-CBS soap career also includes roles on “All My Children” (as Griffin Castillo), “Days of our Lives” (as Dario Hernandez) and “The Bay” (as Justin Ramos).
In Season 2, look for more emphasis on romance, action/adventure and human-interest storylines, particularly as the Duprees deal with the results of Anita’s (Tamara Tunie) breast cancer diagnosis.
