Earlier this month, it was revealed that actor Josh Kelly was off contract at “General Hospital.” Though his new status remained unclear at the time, we can now report that the actor has officially dropped to recurring at the daytime drama series.
While a reason for the change in status has yet to be announced, and ABC has a policy not to comment on actor contracts, as of the Friday, June 27 episode’s end credits, Kelly’s name appears under the recurring cast list after previously appearing between contract actors Tabyana Ali (Trina Robinson) and Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine).
Sources indicate that Kelly remains a central part of the show’s cast, where he continues to play Cody Bell, the long-lost son of Mac Scorpio (John J. York) and Dominique Baldwin.

In recent episodes, Cody has found himself entangled with Ava Jerome (Maura West), leaving fans to wonder if there is a brewing romance between the pair, despite Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) being the initial instigator. Cody has also emerged as a mode of support for Kristina’s sister, Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos).
Outside of his role on “General Hospital,” Kelly is best known to soap fans for his run as Cutter Wentworth on both the ABC version and the short-lived 2013 online reboot of “One Life to Live.” He later starred as Jeremy Caner in the Lifetime drama “UnREAL,” Walker Chisum in the short-lived “Midnight, Texas” and Robbie in “Bluff City Law.”
Additional credits include “What/If,” “Army Wives,” crossover episodes of “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Station 19,” and more recently, he played Detective Archer in an episode of “NCIS: Origins.”
